A brilliant performance from Holyhead Hotspur keeper Carl Jones did much to ensure his side picked up a 1-0 win at Glan Conwy in Welsh Alliance Division One.

Former Welsh Premier glovesman Jones was the star turn for a Hotspur outfit which moved five points clear at the top after completing an 11th victory in 13 starts.

Young talent Harri Lewis scored the all-important goal in the second half. The ball fell to the midfielder on the edge of the area and his first-time shot found the bottom corner.

In-form Llanrwst United made it eight wins in a row with a 2-1 decision at Greenfield.

Callum Parry netted both for the Rwsters – including an 86th-minute match-winning penalty – to make it 18 league goals for the campaign and 28 in all competitions.

The Conwy Valley side are up to fourth in Division One while Greenfield, who replied through Simon Fawcett, drop to sixth.

Aaron Thomas (2), Chris Parry and Cai Henshaw guided Nantlle Vale to a thrilling 4-3 triumph at Blaenau Amateurs, Sion Roberts, Kieron Ellis and Iwan Griffiths hitting back for the Quarrymen, who led 2-0 at one stage.

Tomos Saynor and Ryan Owen (2) booked Llanberis a great 3-0 success over Llandudno Albion at Ffordd Padarn, while it finished 0-0 between Llanrug United and Llandyrnog United.

James Brewerton nabbed the only goal as St Asaph City pipped Penrhyndeudraeth 1-0.

Denbigh Town advanced to the Cookson Cup semi-finals by beating Bodedern Athletic 3-0, Mark Roberts, Paul Fleming and Jacob Barratt all on the mark.

In Division Two, bottom side Aberffraw picked up a welcome three points with a 3-0 win at Mochdre Sports, Gary Bolton, Richard Roberts and substitute Liam Williams on target.

Top side Gwalchmai battled back from two-down to draw 2-2 with second-placed Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Dan Hughes and Jonathan Hunt put the visitors in seeming control, only for the dynamite Marc Evans to reply with a double.

Sam Roberts struck for the hosts, Luke O’Mahoney for the visitors.

Gaerwen are fourth and well in sight of the leaders after whipping Llandudno Junction 4-1. Connor Gordon, Iwan Williams, Steve Jones and Sean Pritchard split the home tally, Curtis Cooper for the Railwaymen.
