Rhos Aelwyd remain on course for a second FAW Trophy Final appearance in three years after beating Gaerwen 4-2 to reach the last 16 on Saturday.

The 2008 competition winners and 2018 runners-up from the Welsh National League Premier Division saw off their Welsh Alliance Division Two visitors thanks to goals from Ryan Jenkins, Scott Reeves, Iolo Hughes and Danny Eccles.

Gerallt Jones and Llion Hughes replied for the Anglesey side, who played well for long spells and will rue a few misses.

Holyhead Hotspur came out on top 2-0 at Bodedern Athletic in an all-Welsh Alliance Division One island derby.

Chris Jones put the visitors in front with a 25-yard chip before Robert Jones settled it with a second goal late on.

Boded created a few good openings and were left to regret a missed penalty, Carl Jones saving from Dean Redmond.

Young Harri Lewis played a stormer in the midfield for Hotspur, who ended the tie with players aged 16, 17 and 18 in the three main central positions.

Llandudno Albion took the honours 5-2 at Mid-Wales League Carno, Dave Maddock (2), Joe Morgan and Jack Williams giving the visitors a commanding 4-0 half time lead before Adam Hold added a fifth after the break. Joe Morris and Callum Jones notched consolations for the hosts.

Cefn Mawr Rangers caused an upset by knocking out Greenfield in the last round, but there was to be no repeat as the Welsh National League Division One hosts were whipped 4-1 by Welshpool Town.

Will Thomas (2), Jake Mann and an own goal saw the Mid-Wales high-flyers through, Aron Blackwell responding.

Lex XI, who knocked out holders Cefn Albion two rounds previously, were hammered 7-0 at home by Berriew, Niall Thomas, Joe Haycock, Richard Davies, Xavier Matisse (2), Harry Watkins and George Mitten sharing the away goals haul.

Sam Roberts. Liam Doran and Sam Jones were on target for Llanrwst United in a 3-1 victory at Llay Welfare, while Andy Noonan delivered a late winner for Brymbo, who triumphed 1-0 at Llanrug United.

Nantlle Vale coasted to a 5-0 success against Barmouth and Dyffryn, Aaron Thomas, Cynan Davies, Aaron Hughes, Tom Mahoney and Dion Roberts with a goal apiece.

Gwynedd League giant-killers Nefyn United eventually found the challenge of Welsh Alliance Division One leaders Denbigh Town too much.

Denbigh were 5-1 winners at Cae’r Delyn, Jacob Walker nabbing a hat-trick, including two penalties, and Mark Roberts a double, although the Penwaig did take the lead through Steve Jones in the 19th minute. Nefyn were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half.

Radnor Valley put in an impressive display to edge out Mold Alexandra 4-3.

The Mid-Wales League Division One side advanced thanks to a Joe Price hat-trick and Geraint Jones single, Dave Bryan, Ben Howarth and Matty Lewis pushing Alex close.
