Women’s recreational football: Bethesda stung by Bees before fighting back for draw

Eglwysbach Queen Bees produced a great result on Monday

Bethesda Athletic had to fight back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw in their debut North Wales Ladies Recreational League Group West clash with Queen Bees Eglwysbach on Monday night.

Pesda were crowned North Wales Women’s League Division Two champions in their first season of formation in 2018-19, but resigned after playing just one Division One match this campaign due to a shortage of players.

Rather than fold, the team decided to enter the recreational league and aim to rebuild with a view to possibly rejoining the NWWFL in the future.

Their first game against Queen Bees proved a tough one.

The Bees took the lead through Chev Cannon on her debut and Elin Charlton added a second before Bethesda clawed it back through Shannon Jade Jones and Katie Midwinter.

Eglwysbach remain undefeated.

Player of the match for Queen Bees was debutant Karen Martin.
