The North Wales Women’s Recreational Football League is underway!
The first two matches in the newly-formed league have taken place over the last two days, both involving teams in Group West.
Queen Bees Eglwysbach and Llanfairfechan Town played the historic first-ever game in the league and, befitting the occasion, battled out a thrilling 4-4 draw.
Maddie Williams, who has impressed hugely in build-up games for Llanfair, scored a hat-trick and Rachel Evans was also on target with her first senior goal.
Queen Bees would not be denied their draw though, Hannah Jones (2), Jo Trafford and Seren Kerfoot-Robson grabbing their goals.
The game also had some real drama, as Llanfair had the chance to win it when they were awarded a penalty, but Maddie Williams’ effort was saved by heroic stand-in keeper Laura Nicholls.
The second match saw Mochdre Lionesses claim a narrow 2-1 win over Penrhyn Bay Panthers.
Both these teams have been around for a while, playing in the Cheshire-based Inspire League over the past couple of years.
They played out a good contest but two goals from Alicia Stretton sealed a Lionesses win, Eleanor Slack replying for the Panthers.
October 13: Queen Bees Eglwysbach 4 (Hannah Jones 2, Jo Trafford, Seren Kerfoot-Robson) Llanfairfechan Town 4 (Maddie Williams 3, Rachel Evans)
October 14: Penrhyn Bay Panthers 1 (Eleanor Slack) Mochdre Lionesses 2 (Alicia Stretton 2)
