Farewell to the North Wales Women’s Football League from Llanfairfechan – for now

A Llanfairfechan Town line-up from last season

Llanfairfechan Town have decided to resign from the North Wales Women’s Football League.

The team will be returning to the Recreation League, where they were previously one of the standout sides.

Town spent one season in the North Wales Women’s League, picking up four wins over a campaign where they produced many encouraging performances but eventually finished up next-to-bottom.

The team announced the following on social media tonight: “Llanfairfechan Ladies have decided to return to the Rec League. It’s not the end of the road on their North Wales League story, but for now the Recreational League suits the team better.

“We’re taking it back to where it started and we’re looking for players.

“So if you’re looking to get into football, come join us.”

“Mae merched Llanfairfechan wedi oenderfynnu dychwelyd i’r gynghrair rec. Nid hyn yw diwedd y gân ar eu stori yng Nghyngrair Gogledd Cymru ond ar hyn i bryd mae’r Recreational yn eu siwtio’n well.

“Rydym yn mynd yn ôl i ddechrau’r stori ac yn chwilio am chwaraewyr newydd. Felly os ydych chi â diddordeb mewn pêl-droed ymunwch â ni!”

The composition of the North Wales Women’s League for the 2023-24 season is yet to be decided, but the current plan on the table from the North East Wales FA suggests splitting it in half and creating two area divisions. However, some teams want it to remain as one league.
