Another maiden moment for women’s football in North Wales takes place this weekend – Llanfairfechan Town Ladies play their first-ever match.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Llanfair take on Llysfaen Lionesses in their inaugural game – kick off is 1pm at the Recreation Ground.
Everyone involved with the Llanfairfechan team said in a message on social media: “As a club we would like to thank Maddie Williams, Rachel Evans and Kelsey Robinson for their hard work in putting the team together, as well as all the girls that have been trying their hardest during training over the last eight weeks to get us to this stage, along with the team coaches.
“Also a big thank you to Harry Hall double glazing for sponsoring the kit.”
The ladies added they would really appreciate support on the day.
The women’s game will be followed by the men’s Mayor’s Cup Final between Llanfairfechan Town’s first and reserve teams.
North Wales women’s football is certainly on the up.
This summer we have seen the formation of ladies teams representing Holywell Town, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Llanberis and North Football Association (NFA), who all intend to enter the North Wales League this season.
Through the Inspire League, recreational football among the women is also growing ever more popular,
Hopefully tomorrow will mark the start of a long and successful road for Llanfairfechan.
