Denbigh Town moved four points clear at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One summit after a 5-0 home thrashing of Llanberis.

The Vale of Clwyd side’s highest win of the season was secured thanks to two goals from Mark Roberts and one each for Jake Walker, Dan Clarke and Jacob Barratt.

Although the hosts created some early opportunities the scoresheet remained blank until the 42nd minute.

Chris Bennett went on a weaving run down the right and his cross was parried by Llanberis keeper Gethin Wakeham, but Roberts was on hand to head in from close range.

The second half saw Denbigh step up a gear and this paid dividends with Walker heading in at the far post from a deep cross on 52 minutes.

Llanberis rallied and saw one effort cleared off the goal-line before forcing an acrobatic save from home keeper Antoni Sarnowski.

Denbigh implemented a change of formation soon after with youngsters Barratt and Clarke replacing the hard-working Bennett and Sion Jones.

The switches profited after 70 minutes when Roberts got his second after his fierce shot hit the post and rebounded out for him to knock in.

Clarke made it four with a great finish on 82 minutes and in injury time he became goal maker when he crossed for an unmarked Barratt to add a fifth.

Denbigh: Antoni Sarnowski, Sion Jones, Dan Lloyd, John Terry, Moses Barrett, Chris Bennett, Stu Vernon, Will Ashley, Paul Fleming, Jake Walker, Mark Roberts. Subs used: Dan Clarke, Jacob Barratt, Billy Holmes.

Blaenau Amateurs triumphed 5-2 over Llandyrnog United, Iwan Jones (3) and Meilir Williams (2) sharing the Quarrymen’s tally, Derry Morris and Ross Gilbert replying.

Liam Willighan grabbed the only goal as Mynydd Llandegai pipped St Asaph City 1-0, while Chris Nicolson and Callum Parry (2) guided Llanrwst United to a 3-1 decision at Prestatyn Sports, Ashley Wood for the hosts.

Huw Quaeck (2) and Jack Jones ensured Penrhyndeudraeth defeated Bodedern Athletic 3-2, Tom Wood and Dean Redmond on the mark for the visitors.

In Division Two, Llion Owen and Ben Fisher struck to earn Barmouth and Dyffryn an impressive 2-0 result at Holyhead Town, Jack Williams (2) and Mark Jones netted for Llandudno Junction in a 3-1 success against Amlwch Town, Ryan Rowlands responding, and it ended 2-2 between Pentraeth and Mochdre Sports.

Marc Lock and Kian Abbot were Pentraeth’s hitmen, Chris Lloyd with both for Sports.

There was a big surprise in the Take Stock Challenge Cup as Division Two leaders Penmaenmawr Phoenix slipped up 1-0 at home to bottom side Aberffraw, Nathan Moore with the only goal.

Y Felinheli caned Gaerwen 5-0, Iwan Owen and Gruff John with two apiece, Cai Dafydd the other, and Pwllheli saw off Kinmel Bay 3-1, Jamie Banks, Gethin Williams and Meical Williams the home net-finders, Matthew Evans for the away side.

Denbigh Town edged a 2-1 outcome at Llanrug United in the Lock Stock Fireworks Challenge Cup round two, Les Brophy and Josh Griffiths on the mark for the winners, Gareth Griffiths (pen) with a home consolation.

Reserves Division action saw Colwyn Bay sweep aside Penmaenmawr Phoenix 7-3 to move top of the table.

Bay went 2-0 up early on through a Will Edwards net-finder and an own goal, but Penmaenmawr hit back to level and then take a shock 3-2 lead.

Colwyn, however, quickly equalised and then regained the lead at 4-3 through Rhys Yates.

They added further goals through Frankie Arkwright (2) and Bobby Gaze.

Barry Jones (pen) and Cai Kearney scored for Llanrwst United in a 2-0 win against Pwllheli.
