Women’s football: Mountain conquered, Llanfair and Amlwch hit 10

Division One

Northop Hall 0 Llanfair 10

There were no less than three hat-tricks recorded by a Llanfair side which hit double figures for the second time already this season.

The Powys outfit lead the table after making it four straight wins – all of them coming away from home against Wrexham (12-1), Denbigh Town (3-1), Rhyl (2-1) and now Northop Hall.

Gemma Jones, Sophie Cook and Sarah Ellis netted three apiece, while there was a single goal from Angharad Davies.

Division Two

Amlwch Town 10 Caernarfon Town 2

Catrin Evans and Lexi Crawley both scored three apiece for new Division Two leaders Amlwch.

The 16-year-old Evans grabbed the third hat-trick of her short senior career to date, while Crawley’s treble pushed her up to 10 goals for the season and secured joint-leadership of the league’s golden boot table.

Cerys Gadd added a pair for the Anglesey-based hosts, while Ffion Owen and defender Carol Lewis also found the net.

Georgia Bain and Jordan Roberts (pen) nabbed consolation goals for Caernarfon.

Connah’s Quay Nomads 9 Pwllheli 1

The Nomads kept up their unbeaten start to the season with a nine-goal salvo against a Pwllheli side which travelled with just 10 players.

Candice Nellist netted twice in the first half for Sara Hilton’s team, Kate Horne, Jasmin Dutton and Ellie Sandiford also on target for the hosts, Amy Roberts hitting back for the visitors.

In the second half, Horne and Dutton notched their second goals, while Rachael Nattrass and Tonicha Dickens were also on the mark.

Holywell Town 1 Llanberis 5

While Llanberis ran out comfortable winners at Halkyn Road, it was another positive performance from the ever-learning home side.

Ruby McGilloway found the net for the Wellwomen, but it was the Darans who were in command, Indie Hassall, Sioned Phillips, Charley Davies, Ffion Bee and an own goal resulting from a Hassall cross sealing the away win.

NFA 2 Mountain Rangers 1

There was quite a surprise at Rhyl High School, where a Rangers side which topped the table after three big wins were defeated by a highly-motivated NFA team.

Katie Bowe fired home a 37th minute free kick to put the visitors in front with her 10th goal of the season.

NFA deservedly equalised before half time when a long range effort from Emily Jones proved too good for keeper Sara Lacey.

The hosts totally dominated the second half, Lacey producing several fine stops to keep the score down, but the winner arrived on 73 minutes when substitute Ashleigh Mills hammered in a tremendous 30-yard strike.
