North Wales Cricket Premier: Bangor maintain title push with another win

North Wales League leading wicket-taker Franco Kasner picked up another five as Bangor edged nearer to the title with a convincing win at Connah’s Quay.

South African Kasner moved up to 42 league victims for the season with a decisive 5-20 in the Citizens’ eight-wicket success.

Quay were put into bat and bowled out for 76, despite a battling 31 from Rhys Stout.

Right-arm off-spinner Kasner led the bowling figures, with Michael Hughes claiming 2-20, Owen Reilly 1-10 from seven overs and skipper Gareth Edwards 1-23 off 10.

Bangor reached 77-2 off 17.2, Nadeem Rehman 31 not out, Callum Miller 2-26 for the Deesiders.

Mochdre (11) 116-5 Brymbo (4) 91-7
Result: Mochdre won by 25 runs

League top run-scorer Matty Humphreys added another half-century to his collection as Mochdre moved up to second.

Captain Humphreys boosted his league total for the summer to 662 at an average of 66.20 as his 53 not out helped the hosts to a 25-run triumph at Black Marsh Fields.

In a match reduced to 20 overs per side due to the weather, Mochdre set 116-5 after being put in, Alex Davies adding 24, while Gareth Boys scooped 3-31 for the Steelmen.

In reply, Brymbo openers Mohamed Nilam Jayman (20) and skipper James Claybrook put on 52 before wickets began to fall steadily.

When Claybrook went for 43, the visitors’ hopes of victory ended as they finished on 91-7.

Gareth Goodson snared 2-11 and Humphreys 2-32 for the hosts, who won 11-4 and are now 14 points behind table-toppers Bangor with five matches apiece left to play.

Sam Rimmington passed 500 league runs for the campaign as his crucial 70 helped guide Llandudno to a cracking win at in-form Northop.

Put into bat, fourth-place Tudno started really well, Rimmington and Matthew Jones (26) forming an opening partnership of 101.

Luke Kenworthy then added 57, which alongside Rimmington’s effort enabled the visitors to set an excellent 221-9 off a reduced 45 overs.

Matthew Mullarkey did best for the hosts with 4-29, Lloyd Hayes pocketed 2-32 and Ammar Mahmood 2-40.

Llandudno then bowled brilliantly as a unit to dismiss Northop for 125.

Skipper Jack Rimmington poached 3-41, including bowling danger man Jordan Evans for a single, Jake Sumbland gathered 2-9, Dan Evans 2-16 and Jamie Grimshaw 2-23.

Result: Gresford won by 30 runs

Gresford came out on top in a low-scoring encounter at Parc Bodegroes.

Electing to bat, the Wrexham area side were all back in the pavilion for just 111, Chris Ellwood scoring what turned out to be a very important 41 not out.

Pwllheli skipper Morgan Murray-Williams claimed senior career-best figures of 6-27 off 9.3 overs and looked to have put his side in a winning position.

Due to the weather, the hosts were faced with a revised target of 99 off 42 overs, but they crumbled to 81 all out, having been 17-5 early on.

Ellwood completed a man of the match display in taking 3-16 off 11 overs, Sam Thompson nabbing 2-7, Ross Willets 2-22 from 12 and John Bell 2-32.
