One of the most popular managers on the North Wales football scene has landed a new role.

Former Porthmadog boss Craig Papirnyk has joined Welsh Alliance Division Two club Pwllheli as player-coach.

Craig was in charge at Y Traeth for five seasons and led Port to third place in the Cymru Alliance last term.

He also has experience of playing at a high level for several years and brings with him great knowledge and attributes that can only benefit Pwllheli.

Pwll manager Ben Ogilvy said: “I am thrilled to have Craig join us. I rang him a few weeks ago to have a chat and see what his plans were having left Porthmadog last season.

“When he mentioned he wanted to get back into playing it was a no-brainer for me to offer him a role with us as I know he will bring much needed quality and experience for the division we are in.

“We have a great young side that was lacking a bit of experience and I’m confident Craig will help the team both on the pitch and off it.

“He had great success in Porthmadog and that experience and knowledge he brings will be a valuable asset to us as we carry on this project we have at the club.

“As expected Craig wasn’t short of offers, however he was impressed with the vision the club has and wants to be a part of it with us so I’m delighted to get him on board can’t wait to start working with him.”

Papirnyk’s football CV also includes spells with Bala Town, Ruthin Town and Barmouth and Dyffryn, where he enjoyed success as a player-manager.
