Champions Menai Bridge stormed to top spot in the Premier with a maximum points success at Clappers Lane.

Despite being without a number of key players, the Anglesey visitors proved far too strong for their very capable hosts.

Bridge set a decent 227-7, Gethin Roberts the highest contributor with 81, Luke Jones 42 and Robbie Jones 31.

The visitors then blitzed out their hosts for 104, Aussie Sean O’Callaghan with his best spell of the season in taking 6-33.

It was far from plain sailing for overnight leaders Bangor as they staggered to a three-wicket victory at battlers Brymbo.

Invited to bat, the Steelmen were all out for a modest 139, Mohamed Nilam Jayman (29) and Gareth Pugh (27) getting the innings off nicely with an opening stand of 54 before fortunes dipped.

South African Franco Kasner snared 4-24 for the visitors, Nadeem Rehman grabbing 3-23 and Jonny Wells 2-14.

Bangor found serious problems in reply, crashing to 97-7 before Michael Hughes (29 no) and Matthew Haswell (15 no) saved the day with an unbroken match-clinching partnership of 43. Opener David Winter earlier posted a crucial 45.

Gareth Boys and Jayman bowled superbly for Brymbo, taking 3-18 and 3-38 respectively, but the hosts will regret not setting a bigger total.

On-fire Mochdre sit joint-second in the table after their batsmen set up a big win over bottom side Connah’s Quay.

Opting to bat first in a match reduced to 46 overs per side due to rain, the hosts amassed 313-4.

Skipper Matthew Humphreys finished 85 no, opener Gareth Goodson made 75. Sam Davies 43 no and James French 30.

Ten-man Quay were all out for 157, Darren Pritchard 52 and Scott Adams 44, Russ Boswell 4-44 for the hosts, Humphreys 3-0 off five balls and Goodson 2-27.

Wicket-keeper Luke Kenworthy was the dominant force at Elwy Park Grove as his maiden century for Llandudno led the visitors to a seven-wicket triumph.

Put into bat, Saints slumped from 32-0 to 39-5, but an heroic 91 from former Tudno opener Duncan Midgley enabled them to set 165. Jason Foulkes (36) assisted Midgley in a sixth-wicket combination of 94 runs.

Skipper Jack Rimmington pocketed 4-32 for the travellers, Tom Thornton with 3-32 and Dan Evans 3-39.

In response, Tudno found themselves 1-2 after Foulkes dismissed Sam Rimmington and Evans for ducks, but after Matthew Jones went for 25 to make the score 58-3, there were no further alarms for the seasiders.

Kenworthy, who cracked 19 fours in his 102 not out, and Ethan Hill (29) put together an undefeated fourth-wicket stand of 108 to seal a 13-2 points decision.

Northop skipper Gareth Williams must have been well satisfied with his decision to put Pont into bat at Alder Meadow.

The hosts were removed for just 119, Alistair Roberts top-scoring with 33, Matthew Mullarkey picking up 4-17 for the away side, Bart Ryan-Beswick 3-31 and Ammar Mahmood 2-29.

Northop were grateful to opener Alex Gill for a decisive 61 as Northop reached 120-6 to complete a 12-3 win, Chris Moss 2-20 and James Hughes 2-28 for the home team.

Struggling at 98-6 at one stage, a match-turning partnership of 104 between Chris Moore and Kalim Syed swung the match Pwllheli’s way.

Moore (89) and Syed (46) were the mainstays of the home innings, which ended at 223-9 off 50 overs, Andy Clarke 4-55 and Ifan Jones 3-39 for Denbigh.

Clarke’s 45 was the only true highlight as the visitors nosedived to 111 all out, Syed 3-31 for the hosts, Iwan Moore 2-19, Morgan Murray-Williams 2-21 and Tristan Coetzee 2-25.

A cracking 15-0 victory for the Llyn side.
