Phoenix sign two diamonds from close neighbours

Two new signings will give added strength to Penmaenmawr Phoenix’s squad for the months ahead.
The Tier 3 Ardal North West club have recruited Dion Jones and Leon Seager, who made their debuts for the Phoenix Under-21 side that beat Buckley Town 4-2 in the FAW National Reserve League North on Saturday.
Central-midfielder Jones, 26, has spent mich of his career with Bangor City 1876, where he made 75 appearances, but also had a productive spell with Llandudno Junction before starting the current campaign at Conwy Borough, scoring six goals in 11 games.
Right-back Seager, 20, also joins the Tangerines from Conwy Boro, who he signed for in 2023-24 and went on to make 88 club appearances split between the first team and Development side.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix manager Azz Keating said: “Both players arrive with plenty to offer and I’m really pleased to have them on board. They bring quality, competition and additional depth to the squad, which is exactly what we want as we continue to build and strengthen the group.
“Since coming into the club, both lads have settled in really well. shown a real willingness to become part of what we’re building here at PPFC.
“It’s important that we continue to create a competitive environment within the senior set up, where players are pushing each other, standards remain high and everyone is fighting for their place. Dion and Leon will certainly help us achieve that.
“Both players also got some valuable minutes with our U21s on Saturday, which was a great opportunity to build match fitness, get further accustomed to the way we want to play and continue developing their understanding with the group.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what both can bring to the club as the season progresses. We’re delighted to have them with us and I know the lads will make them feel very welcome.”
