One of the longest unbeaten runs in North Wales football is over!
Llandudno Valkyries caused a sensation tonight when they ended Colwyn Bay’s 34-match undefeated run which has lasted for more than two seasons.
The back-to-back North Wales Coast Women’s Recreation League champions were finally overcome in their 35th game by the ever-improving Valkyries.
Bay had won 32 and drawn two of their previous 34 matches dating back to September 5, 2024.
After the match, a delighted Valkyries camp said: “What a night for The Valkyries! We came up against an unbeaten Colwyn Bay side and walked away with a fantastic 3–0 victory and ALL THREE POINTS in the Rec League!
“We didn’t just turn up to play football tonight… we turned up to make a statement as a team! “
Azita Ahari gave Llandudno a 21st minute lead from a Jennifer Davies assist.
Davies made it 2-0 on 35 minutes, Carly Andrews this time the supplier.
And it was Andrews who added number three in the 59th minute.

Valkyries coach and management added: “Tonight there simply wasn’t one standout player. Every single player pulled it out of the bag, gave everything for the team and contributed to an outstanding team performance.
“From the first whistle to the last, every player played their part. The determination, work rate, commitment and togetherness were there for everyone to see.
“This is what TEAMWORK looks like! Every single one of you should be proud. ❤️
“To come up against an unbeaten side, deliver a 3–0 result and bring all three points home says everything about this squad.
“Thank you Colwyn Bay for playing us tonight 🫶🏼 All the best for the rest of the season.”
