FRIDAY NIGHT RESULTS AND REPORTS – OCTOBER 16
FAW WELSH CUP ROUND TWO
Denbigh Town 0
CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 2 (McManus 21, McGonigle 28)

First half goals from Declan McManus and Corrig McGonigle booked Bangor a place in the last 32 at the expense of a Denbigh side whose late penalty miss cost them hope of a revival.
Last season’s semi-finalists posed the first serious threat on eight minutes when Josh Carey drilled a strike at goal but Ollie Farebrother saved well at his near post.
Denbigh went close on 15 minutes when Alfie Vaughan let fly with an effort which came back off the underside of the bar, but the ball did not cross the goal-line and was cleared.
The deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when the relentless McManus stole possession on the left and from a tight angle beat the keeper for his 13th goal of the season.
It was 2-0 in the 28th minute when McManus had a shot blocked but master poacher McGonigle was on hand to fire in at the second attempt.
Casey almost made it three before the break when he latched onto a McGonigle delivery over the defence and lashed a fierce shot just wide.
Both teams had their moments in attack after the break, but clear chances were at a premium until the 77th minute when Town’s Tom Kelly was brought down in the box.
Nathan Brown stepped up to take the penalty, but Josh Davies dived the right way and produced the save.
That signalled Denbigh’s last hope of turning the tie around and battling Bangor continued what they hope will be another long run in this season’s Welsh Cup.
Airbus UK Broughton 1 The New Saints 2
Heartbreak for Airbus as their hopes of a cup upset were dashed when Daniel Williams bagged an 88th minute winner for The New Saints.
Danny Davies’ 12th minute goal from a corner handed the Cymru Premier champions a half-time lead, but the in-form Wingmakers fought back to level on 66 through Jordan Evans, who curled a trademark free kick into the top corner.
It was no more than Airbus deserved and they pressed for a winner, but two minutes from the 90, Williams’ deflected effort decided the outcome.
Connah’s Quay Nomads 4 Porthmadog 0
A convincing triumph for Cymru Premier high-flyers Nomads over Cymru North opposition at the Essity Stadium.
John Disney’s side did plenty of attacking in the first half, but at the interval they held only a narrow 1-0 lead.
Harry Franklin was denied very early on by a goal-line clearance and the woodwork.
Robbie Williams in the Port goal produced some handy saves before the deadlock was broken on 38 minutes, Max Woodcock applying the finish after Franklin’s initial header was saved.
Callum West rattled the post before the break.
In the 58th minute, Nomads doubled their advantage when Iwan Murray headed home a cross from Alex Hughes.
Port nearly pulled one back when Rhys Alun Williams’ close range strike was superbly saved by Chris Renshaw.
However, late goals from Hughes and Hussein Mehasseb put the hosts out of sight.
