RELIEF: Reporting of women’s football scores on Cymru Football App set to return to normal

Match scores and goalscorers in the North Wales Coast Women’s Football League should be reportable as normal on the Cymru Football App this weekend.
Grassroots North Wales was alerted last weekend that scores registered for this league on the App were being limited to a maximum of eight-goal winning margins..
Llangefni Town Ladies won 15-0 on Sunday, but when they tried to enter the score, it was cut to 8-0.
It appeared that a ‘mercy rule’ of the type which operates sometimes in junior football had been introduced into the North Wales Coast Women’s League.
However, we have been informed today that a glitch in the App system has been responsible for the limits introduced.
There is a feature within the administration system that limits scores for junior football, as there’s research that shows big scorelines discourages participation with young children, so it looks like the feature had somehow been activated on the league.
Why the women’s teams were not told of this is a mystery. Had GNW not raised the issue one wonders when it might have been dealt with as at least two teams which contacted the league about the matter received no reply.
Nonetheless, it appears everything will be as normal from this weekend, so we hope for the best. It is also hoped the league data can be updated so the latest and correct information appears.
