Three-man management team appointed at Gwalchmai after Craig Evans’ departure

A three-man management team will run Gwalchmai FC for the rest of this season following the departure of Craig Evans.

Iwan Lewis (Poodle) will be manager with Carl Taylor and Dylan Owen (Dyl Valley) his assistants.

All three are established at the club having worked with Evans in recent times.

Many tributes have been paid to Craig Evans and his work with Gwalchmai on social media this evening.

Kenny Jones

Former Gwalch keeper Kenny Jones said: “All the best Craig Evans; don’t think people realise how much work really goes into running a team.
“It’s much more than just turning up on a Saturday these days, constantly chasing players to turn up to training and games, building a squad and keeping a squad.
“Well done to you over the last few years for keeping the team going should be really proud of what you have achieved at the club “

Carl Taylor

And assistant Carl Taylor said: “I’m sure I speak for everyone associated with CPD Gwalchmai, I just want to say we are all saddened at Craig stepping down from his position as club manager 😔 a sad for the club as he has been an ever present at the club for many years, and seen success over those years …. but the one thing that I have to point out is, Craig is one of the finest and most genuine people i have had the pleasure to have known, a true gentleman a great clubman for Gwalchmai and I’m sure all of the club would validate that.
“I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for inviting myself to join the club last season; it has been an honour and a privilege to have been by your side 🤝 you will be sadly missed but I’m sure you will one day return home where you belong. Good luck in all you do and thank you for the memories , take care my friend . Up the Gwalch.”

Long-serving Gwalchmai secretary Will Williams said: “As secretary of Gwalchmai Football Club I would like to thank Craig Evans for his valuable service for this great club as a player and especially as team manager. I have worked alongside Craig in signing players and I know how hard he has worked over the years and this is a great loss to the club. May I as the club secretary and on behalf of everyone at the club wish Craig and his family all the very best for the future, the door will always be open if ever change your mind, all the best mate.”
