Two Caernarfon Town players reach 100 appearances for club

Two popular figures at Caernarfon Town have both reached 100 first team appearances for the club.

Phil Mooney and Paulo Mendes achieved their respective tons for the Canaries during August.

Defender Mooney, 34, hit the landmark after coming on as a substitute in Monday’s exciting 3-2 defeat against champions The New Saints.

Portuguese Mendes, 33, made it to 100 appearances in Caernarfon’s 2-0 victory at Trefelin on August 21.

Mooney joined Caernarfon at the start of the 2023-24 season after a spell with Cefn Druids and prior to that represented Widnes of the North West Counties League.

He featured for Town in all of their European matches against Crusaders, Legia Warsaw and Levadia and has scored 13 goals for the club.

Central-midfielder Mendes has had two spells with Caernarfon.

In a much-travelled career, he played for four clubs in Portugal before having his first taste of Welsh football with Brymbo in 2013.

Then followed stints with Buckley Town, Nantwich Town, Vauxhall Motors, Colwyn Bay, Brackley, Oxford City, Airbus UK Broughton, Redditch and Darlington before he landed at Aberystwyth Town in 2019-20.

He spent the 2020-21 season at Caernarfon before switching to Connah’s Quay Nomads the following campaign.

Mendes served wo seasons with Nomads prior to joining Bala Town in 2023-24, but has been a Caernarfon player since the start of 2024-25.

He played in the Europa Conference League ties against Crusaders and Legia Warsaw before netting in a Nathaniel MG Cup victory over Newtown. He has also scored 13 goals for the club.
