Mayzee makes nostalgic return to former club and witnesses stunning transformation to women’s and girls facilities

Wales international Mayzee Davies visited her former club Flint Town United this week to witness amazing transformation work carried out to women’s and girls facilities at Essity Stadium.
The Manchester City defender, capped five times by Cymru, began her youth football career at Flint in 2014-15 and attended the town’s High School.
Mayzee, who was 20 on Tuesday, enjoyed her nostalgic return home.
The Cymru Football Foundation’s Environments for Her fund is helping clubs across Cymru create safe, welcoming and inspiring for women and girls who take part in the grassroots game.
12 months on from Cymru’s history-making qualification for the UEFA Women’s Euros in 2025, Cymru Women’s national team head coach Rhian Wilkinson visited Graig Villa Dino FC in Newport, whilst Mayzee returned to old haunt Flint.
Both clubs have benefitting from investment to improve their facilities, ensuring women and girls have access to safe, comfortable and inclusive off-field spaces.
Returning to where her footballing journey began, Davies reflected on her own experiences of the grassroots game and importance of creating facilities that inspire the next generation of players. She also enjoyed a Q and A session with current Flint Town Ladies captain Ruby McGilloway.
Recognising the success of Wilkinson’s team on the pitch – as well as leaving a legacy across the country – £1million has been invested by the CFF to over 20 clubs over the last 12 months.
CFF are on a mission to double the number of women and girls participating in football across Cymru through inspirational and fit-for-future football facilities.
Since 2022, CFF have created 56% more access to facilities for women and girls through its investments.
