NWCFA WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP

Denbigh Town 2 Towyn 3

Quite a competitive debut for the new Towyn women’s team – victory over one of North Wales’ most established female sides.

Fielding a number of players from last season’s Kinmel Bay under-17 side and managed by the experienced Frank Standing, the visitors travelled to Central Park for their first-ever fixture.

It was Denbigh who struck first after 28 minutes when last season’s top-scorer Loz Jones made it 1-0.

Towyn levelled on 42 minutes when Bryce-amy Thomas-Fleming provided the assist for the dynamic Baileigh Aaron to find the net.

However, Denbigh regained the lead on the stroke of half time through Sophie Evans.

Towyn’s young starlets upped their game in the second half and equalised on 51 minutes through Scarlett Ash, captain Lexie McEvoy this time assisting.

And the winner arrived on 61, Shanie-May Fleming the supplier for Ash to score her second.

Caernarfon Town A NFA A

This match was abandoned early in the second half after the NFA keeper sustained an injury.

Caernarfon led 2-0 at the time.
