WELSH CUP SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND

Trearddur Bay 8 (C Parry 4, Morris 2, N Hughes, Ainsworth)
Connah’s Quay Town 1 (C Parry)

Four goals from Callum Parry helped Trearddur Bay power through to the First Round Proper of the FAW Welsh Cup with a comprehensive 8-1 victory over Connah’s Quay Town.

Bay wasted little time making their dominance count. Just three minutes were on the clock when Parry opened the scoring, converting from a Joe Todd assist. Elliott Jones in the Connah’s Quay goal was soon called into action again, making two good early saves as Bay continued to press.

The second arrived in the 18th minute. Thomas Lennon picking out a long ball, controlled by Ashley Ainsworth who kept his composure to finish neatly and make it 2-0.

Just three minutes later, Ainsworth battled well for possession on the right side of the box and the ball fell to Todd, who fed Parry for his second of the tie.

Bay then added two goals in the space of two minutes. Liam Morris jinked his way into the area before finding the finish to make it 4-0. Moments later, Iolo Hughes’ long ball was touched on by Ainsworth, and the ball fell kindly for Morris to finish again and grab his second of the afternoon.

There was still time for one more before the break. Sebastian Samuel did brilliantly down the left hand side, before laying the ball back to Parry, whose powerful shot proved too much for the goalkeeper as he completed his 4th hat-trick of the season.

The second half was a little more contested with Connah’s Quay grabbing the first goal after only 2 minutes of the half after some confusion in the Bay defence allowing Connor Parry to pull a goal back.

Trearddur Bay quickly restored their five-goal advantage, however, Noa Hughes jumping highest to head home from a Liam Morris corner in the 53rd minute with his first goal for the club.

There were no further goals until the 70th minute, when Parry completed his four-goal haul, once again combining with Todd to find the net and put the finishing touch to an outstanding individual performance.
