Colwyn Bay are top of the First Division as a result of Saturday’s win at Ainsdale and previous leaders Southport and Birkdale’s loss at Northop Hall.
Bay won the toss and decided to bat at The Ainsdale Club, posting 204 all out off 50.3 overs.
Two knocks were key – 85 from skipper George Johansen and Matthew Thompson’s 67, that pair putting on 113 for the third wicket. Zahir Shehzad took 4-70 for the hosts.
Shashika Dulshan then followed up his career best 8-44 of the previous weekend by claiming 7-85 as Ainsdale fell to 175 all out, skipper Oliver Green a defiant 83 not out.
Jack Parry also took 3-42 for Bay, who triumphed by 31 runs and 24-8 on points.
Last wicket pair Ben Slater and Robbie Edwards put on a crucial 12 runs to guide Northop Hall over the finish line in a low-scoring battle with table-toppers Southport and Birkdale.
The visitors won the toss and batted, but were torn apart by the latest wonder spell from evergreen Paul Jenkins, the slow left-armer taking 7-50 off 25 overs as the Merseysiders slumped to 143 all out, fellow spinner James Hurlin collecting 3-54.
Raunak Roy made 53 and Monty Horridge 40 not out for S and B.
In reply, Hall looked well set at 79-1, but wickets thereafter fell steadily untul the final pair came through on 132-9. However, skipper Slater’s experience and Edwards’ solidiy saw the hosts to victory.
Opener Jac Kennedy had earlier made 36, Bobby Wincer 5-65 for the travellers.
At 160-5 chasing 194 for victory, Prestatyn looked to be in a good position, but a late collapse sent the visitors crashing a four-run defeat.
Put into bat, Wavertree made 193-7 declared off 56, Andrew Davies a vital 62 not out, Ben Hughes 3-46 and Adam Tidswell 3-79 for the North Walians.
Prestatyn were then dismissed for 189, Ryah Westwell 54, Faiz Shah 44 and Gareth Leonard 39, Jack Hogan 3-33 for the hosts.
Bay seconds elected to bat and set 194-8 declared, Jamie Moorhouse 50 not out and Tom Roberts 47, Martyn Farrell 4-45 for the visitors, who scrapped home on 195-9, Ian Robinson a decisive 105, Moorhouse completing a fine game with 4-51.
Victory in the North Wales derby for Northop Hall seconds left them 41 points clear at the summit.
Owen Skillander made 49, Ben Hicks 43 not out, Michael Williamson 35 and James Southern 33 not out as the Hall posted 193-5 declared, Samuel Hughes 2-17 for Prestatyn seconds, who were sent packing for 125, Ashley Jones and Michael Thompson both making 47, Gerhin Owen 4-6 and Southern 4-15 for the victorious visitors.
