Manager pays touching tribute to departing Caernarfon Town legend

Caernarfon Town manager Richard Davies has delivered a heartwarming tribute to his departing legend Darren Thomas.
The Cofi Messi announced this week he is leaving the club where he has spent the majority of his career, making 435 appearances and scoring 148 goals.
Manager Davies said Thomas, 39, will go down as a Caernarfon Town all-time great.
“I’m absolutely gutted and devastated to see Daz leave the club. He’s been a huge part of the club’s success and will forever go down as a Caernarfon Town legend,” said the manager, affectionaly known as Fish.
“When I was appointed manager, I gave Daz the armband and made him my captain because I knew exactly what this club meant to him. To see him lift the Welsh Cup and make his boyhood dreams come true is something that will live with me forever.
“Also to be the first captain to lead the club in Europe is probably up there with one of the proudest moments in his football career.
“For me, football clubs are not just defined by trophies but the people within them, and to anyone who knows Daz he is one of the biggest characters within the domestic game and I will miss the laughs and coffees / pints.
“Daz is one of the most humble people you will ever meet, but the impact he has had on the young people of Caernarfon is unbelievable and he truly is an inspiration for the next generation
“I desperately wanted to see him finish his career here at Caernarfon. I tried to convince him to stay, but both myself and the club had to respect his wishes. He simply wanted to play every single week, and that desire is something you can only admire.
“Daz leaves with nothing but my full respect and gratitude. I wish him every success in his next chapter, and I genuinely hope to see him stood on the terraces with the Cofi Army, cheering the lads on like he always has.
“Pob lwc Daz ac yn bwysigach byth, DIOLCH!
“Cofi Messi y gorau fuodd erioed yn y melyn a gwyrdd.”
