North East Wales League: Gronant bounce back after three bad defeats, Aston Park edge narrow win

NORTH EAST WALES TROPHY – LEAGUE PHASE

After three straight defeats in which they conceded a total of 28 goals without scoring a single one, Gronant turned the tables with a comfortable home victory in the Trophy tonight.
The hosts took a 15th minute lead when a Kyle Hedge assist set up Aidan Bell for the opener.
Ian Jenkins made it 2-0 four minutes into first half stoppage time and there was still enough left on the clock for Bell’s second to hand Gronant a three-goal interval lead.
Five minutes into the second half, Nick Sutherland put the hosts 4-0 up, keeper Paul Jilge with the assist.
Damon Bradley pulled one back for Cei Connah in the 59th minute, but that was the end of the scoring.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12
DIVISION ONE
Aston Park Rangers 3 Greenfield 2
Kallum Pierce’s 90th minute goal clinched victory for Aston Park Rangers at Llys Ben on Wednesday evening.
Ethan Evans gave Greenfield a 14th minute lead, but soon after Mason Lowery made it one-apiece and Billy Hart put Rangers 2-1 up only for Bailey Roberts to level the match with 29 played.
The visitors had captain Darren Johns sent off for a second yellow on 43 minutes, but the score stayed the same right up until that late decider, skipper Shay Davies setting up Pierce.

Saltney Town Development 4 CPD Sychdyn United Reserves 0
Keiye Williams (2), Harry Roberts and Kieran Barratt shared the goals as Saltney got themselves off to a flyer.
NORTH EAST WALES TROPHY – LEAGUE PHASE
Johnstown YFC 3 Cefn Druids 4
Druids led 4-1 at half time but had to deal with a strong comeback in the second period from Johnstown before celebrating victory.
Ruben Lima Teixeira (2), Jake Harper and a Kian Foulkes own goal made up the Ancients’ tally, Callum Poole replying.
In the second stanza, Foulkes and Dewi Reeves (84 minutes) brought Johnstown to within a goal of their opponents, but Cefn held on.
Skippy 1 Llanuwchllyn Reserves 5
Captain Iolo Jones and sub Seth Edwards scored two goals apiece in a thumping win for Llanuwchllyn at Bellevue Park.
Guto Edwards set the ball rolling for Llan with an 18th minute strike, Jason Ratcliffe netting Skippy’s only goal to make it 3-1 to the visitors at the break.
