Twenty years after representing Pwllheli in the Welsh Cup final, goalkeeper Sara Lacey is back at the club

Goalkeeper Sara Lacey is back at CPD Pwllheli – 20 years after she represented the club in the Welsh Cup final.

The veteran stopper, who spent many seasons with CPDM Llanystumdwy, will return to The Rec for the 2026-27 season.

Having started her football journey with Pwllheli at a young age, she was part of the team that reached the 2006 Welsh Cup Final, where they faced Cardiff City, featuring Welsh internationals Jess Fishlock and Lauren Dykes.

She later joined Llanystumdwy and made 100 appearances for the club since 2021-22 before making her return to Pwllheli Ladies. Sara has also represented Bangor City and Mountain Rangers.

Lacey, 37, is an ideal replacement for Sara Williams, who left the club at the end of last season after three fantastic years wearing the gloves.

CPD Pwllheli said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Sara back home. Her experience, quality, and passion for the game will be a huge asset to the squad, and we’re excited to see her between the posts once again this season.”
