Guess what’s back? A woman’s football league for North East Wales!
After a season away the North East Wales Women’s Football League is back!
Competitive women’s football is set to make a welcome return to the North East Wales Football Association this season, with the North East Wales Women’s League relaunching for the 2026/27 campaign after a year’s absence.
Eight teams will contest the league, with the new season getting underway on Sunday September 6 as clubs from across the region compete for honours.
The teams taking part are:
- Airbus UK Broughton
- Buckley Town
- Coedpoeth United
- Connah’s Quay Nomads U19
- Hawarden Park
- Northop Hall
- Northop Hall U23
- Wrexham Foresters Reserves
The league’s return follows the successful introduction of the North East Wales Women’s Recreational League, which proved a popular addition last season and will continue into 2026/27.
NORTH EAST WALES WOMEN’S RECREATIONAL LEAGUE
Eight teams will once again take part in the recreational competition, with Aston Park Rangers, Cei Connah, Coedpoeth United (Rec), Corwen, Deeside Dragons, Halkyn United, Hawarden Park (Rec) and Mynydd Isa all set to feature.
The Recreational League will also begin on Sunday September 6, providing another important platform for players of all abilities to enjoy competitive football in North East Wales.
The relaunch of the Women’s League, alongside the continued growth of the Recreational League, marks another positive step forward for the women’s game in the region, creating more opportunities for clubs, players and communities to be involved.
