Novira Cymru North: Wins for Denbigh, Brickfield and Porthmadog, Rhyl and Mold held

Debutants Tom Kelly and Ffranc Vaughan-Evans both made the scoresheet and the prolific Nathan Brown was also on the mark as Denbigh began the season in style at Globe Way.
Buckley struck first in the 10th minute when Connor Littler set up Aled Bellis to open the scoring.
Denbigh were soon level when Brown sprayed the ball to new signing Kelly, who took a quality touch and applied a fine finish.
The visitors took a 24th minute lead when the referee awarded a penalty for a high foot on Toby Gallagher-Keenan and Brown scored his 90th goal for the club via the spot.
Dylan Proctor had a chance to equalise, but was unable to lift the ball over keeper Ollie Farebrother.
Brown was denied by a superb Bryn Owen save before Dewi Llion’s men made it 3-1 in the 39th minute, new man Kelly with a magnificent finish into the bottom corner after he was found by Ben Lockley.
There were no further goals in the second half – although Farebrother made a cracking stop to deny Ben Guest – before the 86th minute when Hugh Holland delivered low and sub Vaughan-Evans fired into the net.
Guest converted a penalty for the Bucks deep into added time, but this was Denbigh’s day.

Brickfield Rangers 5 CPD Llanuwchllyn 1

A superb start to the season for Gareth Wilson’s Brickfield side, but a day to forget for Cymru North debutants Llanuwchllyn.
Jay Richardson and Andrew Vale struck on 34 and 45 minutes respectively to hand the Wrexham hosts a 2-0 half time advantage.
Sam Flory made it three from the spot on 57 before Llan were handed a potential lifeline when they were awarded a penalty after 64.
The prolific Meilir Williams, North Wales senior football’s top marksman for the past two seasons, failed to convert but was there from the rebound to cut the deficit.
However, Richardson and Vale both completed doubles before the end to seal an emphatic Rangers success.

Mold Alexandra 2 Caersws 2

Mold were denied three points by a 91st minute equaliser from 10-man Caersws.
The visitors struck first five minutes into stoppage time at the end of the opening half when Jake Humphreys found the net.
Six minutes into the second half, a Max Williams own goal made it 1-1, then Owen Cordiner edged Alex in front from a Rhyss Nash assist on 67.
The Bluebirds had striker Tommy Rowlands dismissed after 79 for a second yellow card, but Rhys Hesden managed to bag that late leveller to earn ‘Sws a share of the spoils.

Penrhyncoch 1 Porthmadog 3

New signings Osian Ellis and Dylan Summers-Jones netted on their debuts as Porthmadog marked their return to Tier 2 with an away win.
Ellis, who has joined Port on loan from Caernarfon Town, broke the deadlock on 37 minutes via a Gwion Dafydd assist, however Jakub Michalski equalised on 43.
A minute after the break, Port provided the perfect riposte when ex-Bangor City 1876 striker Summers-Jones made it 2-1, Ellis setting him up.
And the points were sealed on 90 when Rhys Alun Williams made it 3-1, sub Luke Baum, a new capture from Talysarn Celts, the supplier.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1 Guilsfield 1

Rhyl will feel this was a case of two points dropped after a late equaliser earned Guilsfield a split of the honours.
Without a win in preseason, the Lilywhites looked like making sure it was alright on the night – or afternoon – when skipper Reece Fairhurst put them in front on 43 minutes from a Ben Lightfoot assist.
The hosts had opportunities to make the game safe, but in the 83rd minute Alistair Williams made it all-square, Jake Cook setting up the chance.
