Two-time Adran North title winner joins Bangor City 1876 Women

Bangor City 1876 Women have added the experienced former Bethel, Llanberis, CPDM Felinheli and Llandudno winger Sioned Phillips to their squad.

Phillips, 27, is a former pupil of Ysgol Brynrefail, Llanrug, where she won two Welsh Cups with the school football team at under-13 and under-14 level.

She joined CPDM Bethel in 2016 and was part of the 2018-19 side which jointly won the North Wales Women’s League title.

Phillips went on to form a women’s team at Llanberis in 2019-20, where she was player-manager. Despite showing promise in NWWFL Division Two, the team only lasted a season, which was shortened due to Covid.

In 2021-22, Phillips was in the Llandudno squad which lifted the inaugural tier 2 Genero Adran North title, laying on the winning goal in the team’s final day championship-clinching 3-2 success over Wrexham. Tudno went on to land the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup.

She remained with the Seasiders in 2022-23 and began the next campaign with the club, but in September 2023 decided to join Felinheli. She was only at Cae Seilo for two months before returning to Llandudno, winning a second Adran North title at the end of 2023-24.

Phillips also spent the next two seasons at Maesdu Park, but rarely featured last term. In all, she made 72 appearances for Tudno. notching 12 goals.

Sioned is also a gifted rugby player, usually operating at fly-half.

She has represented Welsh Colleges, Scarlets Under-18’s, RGC, Coleg Menai and Caernarfon, and also played rugby league for North Wales Crusaders.
