North Wales Road Runners pair in top form at Rhos
Two members from North Wales Road Runners recorded the highest age grades at last Saturday’s Rhos parkrun.
Team GM and Welsh International track star Steve Gardner finished 5th overall and his time and performance in 18 minutes and 12 seconds earned him a 91.30% age grade in his VM60 age cat. Meanwhile fellow veteran Kay Hatton also had a great run and she was 70th overall in 23.41 and her VW60 age grade was 84.31%,

LLANDRILLO-YN-RHOS PARKRUN
It proved to be yet another exciting and very close finish at the Llandrillo yn Rhos parkrun with the top three athletes all battling it out over the final kilometre, before Conor Davies and Michael Corrales eventually held on to keep James Yarwood and his famous double twin buggy into third place!
Davies had an outstanding run in just 16 minutes and 53 seconds, with Corrales second with a new course PB 16.59, and Yarwood (Wrexham AAC) a close third in 17.00.
First female finisher was Elin Jones in 20.13 (18th overall) in 20.13, with JW11-14 athlete Savannah Williams a close second with a new CPB 20.22, and visitor Cherry Moger (Sinfin RC) was 43rd in 22.26. There were 409 finishers.
NWRRC had nine members involved including: Steve Gardner 5th with a new course PB in 18.12; Will Williams won his VM50 in 10th place in 19.03; Steve Mason was 46th with a CPB 22.43; Daniel Hennell was 54th in 23.00, Kay Hatton finished 2nd VW60 in 70th place in 23.41; whilst Nia Lister was 140th in 26.35; and master vet Don Hale won his VM70 cat in 167th place in 27.19. Meanwhile Charlotte Rose Wilton-Jones finished 255th in 30.32, with Gethin Wyn Jones 257th in 30.37.
Colwyn Bay AC: 31st JM10 Dylan Williams cpb 21.05; Rebecca Downs 47th in 22.45; Molly New 154th CPB 27.02; and JW11-14 Charlotte Owens 284th CPB 32.15.
Porth Eirias Runners: Pedro Gaspar 67th in 23.34; Alan Hackett 203rd in 28.29; Paula Crutchley 297th in 33.06; and
tail walker Kevin Edge 390th in 48.50.
Some other local runners included: Darren Dentith 38th with a new course PB in 21.48; Daniel Owens and his guide Steve Poupart 103/104th in 25.16; and Peter Johnson was 191st in 28.15.
GOG Triathlon: Andy Jones 35th in 21.10; Wendy Trelease 115th CPB 25.41; Ashleigh Tomlinson 128th in 25.57; and Dinah Hazeldine 375th in 41.39.
STOCKPORT
NWRRC member Kevin Higgins (pictured above) ran at Stockport last Sunday: He confirmed: “The first ever Stockport County 10k race this morning in very hot and humid conditions. My time was not the best 66 minutes and 20 seconds, but probably one of the best medals I’ve ever picked up.”
CONWY
Simon Cole (GOG Triathlon) was first man home at the Conwy parkrun in 17.21, and James Williams (Lymm Runners) took the second spot in 19.02, with visitor James Ferrant (Pitsea RC) third in 19.17.
Anna Drinwater (Eryri Harriers) was first female finisher (5th overall) in 19.50, and Lauren Evans was second with a CPB 22.08, with Siobhan Watson 3rd in 23.31. There were 181 finishers.
North Wales Road Runners: Paul Aubert 13th overall in 21.48 and 3rd VM45, with Richard Scamans 23rd and 2nd VM50 in 22.58. Super vet Sandy Johnston made a welcome return after injury in 26.34, and won his VM75 cat, with fellow super-vet Mike Hayton 3rd VM75 and 95th in 29.42.
Some other local runners included: Rhys Pugh 19th in 22.39 and 2nd VM40; Simon Nixon 26th and 1st VM65 cat in 23.14; Amanda Durber 83rd in 27.33; and John Stallard 84th in 27.46.
Colwyn Bay AC: Josh Mottram won his SM18-19 age cat in 9th place in 21.29, and Ian Taylor finished 38th and 3rd VM55 in 24.22.
Porth Eirias Runners: Jasper McQueen 10th in 21.35; Barry Palmer 46th in 24.39, and Nicola Evans 67th in 26.33.
GOG Triathlon’s top four finishers were Simon Cole 1st in 17.21; Jan Feeley 4th CPB 19.32; super-vet Liz Evans 59th and 1st VW75 25.47; whilst veteran Liz McIndoe was 156th in 36.47.
PRESTATYN
Local soccer star and referee Aaron Dodwell was first finisher at the Nova Parkrun last Saturday in a good time of 18.00, but it was a close encounter with John Myers (Helsby RC) second in 18.11 and visitor Chris Jones (Wallasey) third in 18.15.
Top female was Katie Parry (7th overall) with a new course PB in 20.29, and Eve Manifold (Prestatyn RC) was second in 22.31, with Annmarie Riley (Penny Lane Striders) a narrow third with a new course PB in 23.22. There were 292 finishers at Prestatyn.
Prestatyn RC entered an amazing 22 members with Alex Ryder 4th in 18.41; Jamie Betts 18th in 22.15; and Eve Manifold 22nd in 22.31.
PENRHYN
Jonathan Tyler (Betsi Runaways) was the first finisher at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun in 18.41, and Irish tourist Andrew Gann (City of Lisburn AC) took second spot in 19.54, with another visitor in Finlay Price (The Peacock Firm) third in 19.58.
Eight out of the first ten female finishers were visitors including Fiona Boylan, first in 24.22, and she shared the exact same time as fellow visitor Emma Barker second, with Francesca di Palma third in 25.44. There were 292 finishers at Penrhyn.
Some other local runners of note included: Arwel Lewis (Eryri Harriers) 23rd in 23.01; and Steffan Sayer (Menai T&F) 31st in 24.01.
