Bangor City 1876 Women got their pre-season up and running with a friendly against Tranmere Rovers Development this afternoon.
New signing Hannah Owen was on target in City’s 3-1 defeat, the final score not doing justice to the North Wales team’s performance.
Temporary manager Chris O’Neal was very pleased with the display, which he said already showed improvements on last season.
Speaking after the game, O’Neal said: “Good competitive game in the heat. All squad members played 30 minutes, then the following 15 minutes.
“Great run out for all and a massive improvement on last season.
“It was a good, all-round performance.”
City have brought in Owen from Llandudno and Ellie Sian Jones via Y Felinheli so far, and O’Neal hopes to add further names to the squad in the coming days. A number of last season’s squad have already committed.
Tranmere went two-up before Owen pulled a goal back.
Rovers then went 3-1 in front, but Bangor dominated the final half-hour and the only drawback was a failure to turn pressure into goals.
