New Wrexham goalkeeper is a Wales international
Wrexham AFC Women have signed highly-rated goalkeeper Lucy Farrell from Stoke City.
Farrell, 22, made 18 appearances for the Potters in the Tier 3 National Women’s League North last season.
She previously played at Burnley, Halifax and Stockport County.
Llantristant-born Farrell also spent time in the academies at Manchester United and Manchester City as a youngster
The Adran Premier champions’ new recruit is an international player, having featured in a number of matches for the Cymru Under-19 team, where she has played alongside current Wrexham stars Maria Francis-Jones and Faye Knox.
Farrell was also called up for the first time by Rhian Wilkinson for Wales’ Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania in April.
She joins a Wrexham squad preparing for the Champions League first qualifying round, where they will face Pyunik of Armenia on 22 July.
Her arrival at The Rock will create keen competition for the keeper’s jersey with last season’s title-winning stopper Liz Craven.
Wrexham Women also recently signed Mikayla Cook after her departure from Cardiff City Women.
Cook, 21, scored 23 goals in 85 appearances for the Bluebirds after coming through the club’s youth ranks.
