Denbigh Town Football Club has announced the return of its Development team.

The side has been accepted into the North Wales Coast Development League for the 2026/27 campaign and will begin their pre-season preparations in the coming days.

The Development squad will work primarily as a bridge from Junior football to the senior set-up, allowing more opportunities for players aged 16-19 to play regular football and transition across to the Reserves and ultimately the First Team.

The club has revealed that that Zak Ellis and Harry Jones will take up the position of joint managers of the side, having previously taken up similar positions locally, as well as playing for Denbigh Town.

“I think I can speak on behalf of myself and Zak that It’s an absolute honour to be back involved at our home town club” said Jones.

“Seeing the club develop the way it has over the years, both on and off the pitch, has been amazing to see as a supporter and as a Denbigh lad. The facilities now are second to none, and it’s incredible how far the club has come.

“The pathway and set-up the club now has with lads coming through the juniors and reserves to the first team is brilliant to see, and we hope to carry that on and support the club in any way we can.

“Starting up a Development team and bringing lads up from Under-16s is something we are used to, so we know the challenge that awaits, but we’re looking forward to it”.

Reserves defender Gruff Rogers will also take up a position as a coach for the side, completing the trio in charge of an exciting chapter for the club.

“It’s great having Gruff on board with us, who has been at the club for a long time and his knowledge of the game for a lad still very young himself is outstanding.

“We’re looking forward to working alongside the Reserves and First Team and supporting in any way we can. We’re buzzing to be here and looking forward to the season ahead!”
