Nine cracking high-quality transfers to kick off the summer

Prolific marksman Osian Hughes is moving clubs

Many thanks to all clubs for their help with photos and information

Osian Hughes (Bethesda Athletic to Trearddur Bay)

Massive signing for Trearddur Bay in the shape of the Ardal North West’s golden boot winner in 2025-26.
Former Wrexham AFC Youth player Osian Hughes, 24, made a few Cymru North appearances for Conwy Borough in the 2019-20 season before joining Bethesda Athletic at the start of 2021-22, where his father Mark was manager.
He has gone on to make 160 appearances for Pesda in all competitions, notching 95 goals.
Osian was top-scorer in the Tier 3 Ardal North West this season with 33 league goals, netting 38 in total from 34 outings.
He also played a key role in Athletic being crowned North Wales Coast West Premier Division champions in 2023-23 and 2024-25.
On his move to Trearddur Bay, Hughes said: “I’m delighted to sign for the club. It is extremely ambitious and I want to be part of the project. Ultimately I want to win things and that’s why this a great fit.
“I’ve loved playing for Bethesda, my home club. After leaving Wrexham I needed to enjoy football again. Now is the right time to take up a new challenge and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season and to prepare for the season ahead.”

Noah Edwards (Connah’s Quay Nomads to Caernarfon Town)

The 30-year-old all-action midfielder has rejoined Caernarfon from Nomads, who report they have received a ‘substantial fee’ for his transfer.
As a youth, Noah played at Rhyl Academy and Prestatyn Athletic before joining Airbus UK Broughton’s Development squad.
In 2014-15, he moved to Welsh Premier club Prestatyn Town, spending four years at Bastion Gardens before signing for Connah’s Quay Nomads in June 2018.
After a short stay with the Deesiders, where he was part of their Europa League squad, Edwards committed to Caernarfon Town at the start of 2018-19.
He rejoined Nomads at the start of 2023-24, and spent three seasons at the club, making over 100 competitive appearances and scoring 12 goals in the process, also helping them lift the Welsh Cup in 2024.

Jordan Piggott (AFC Telford United to Caernarfon Town)

Well-travelled defender joins the Cofis on a free transfer having spent the past four years at AFC Telford United, helping the club earn promotion to National League North.
Piggott made 22 appearances for the former Bangor City in the 2018-19 season, when the club had been relegated to the Cymru Alliance League.
Tipton-born Piggott, 27, was released by West Bromwich Albion as a youth and joined Dundee of the Scottish Premiership for the 201718 season.
After a loan spell at East Fife, Piggott was released by The Dee and switched to Bangor, then followed stints at English clubs Alvechurch, Halesowen Town, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull Moors and Gloucester City prior to that successful move to Telford.

Iwan Murray (Chester to Connah’s Quay Nomads)

Murray, a 25-year-old midfielder, joins Nomads from National League North neighbours Chester having made 28 starts for the Blues in the 25/26 season.
Originally a part of the Chester Academy, he had a spell at Runcorn Linnets which saw him score 25 goals in 61 games for the club, pushing the Linnets to a Play Off Final.
His impressive form earned a move back to Chester in 2022 where he would go on to win the Young Supporters Player of the Season and Goal of the Season in the 2022/23 campaign.
Murray made over 150 appearances for Chester and joins Nomads with a wealth of experience in the National North League.

Alex Hughes (Wigan Athletic to Connah’s Quay Nomads)

Nomads have signed 19-year-old defender Alex Hughes.
Hughes rejoins the Cymru Premier club after originally playing for its U8 age group back in 2015, when he was signed by Wigan Athletic.
The player has gone on to spend the last decade at the Latics, working his way through their Academy setup, earning not only a two-year playing scholarship at the club but also his first professional deal.
Hughes made his first team debut for the side from the DW Stadium in the EFL Trophy against Salford City last year but was ultimately released by the Latics this summer, leading to the opportunity to reunite with his hometown club.

Frankie Deane (Edinburgh City to Connah’s Quay Nomads)

Europa League bound Nomads have boosted their squad with the recruitment of 21-year-old central midfielder Frankie Deane.
Deane joins the 2025-26 Cymru Premier runners-up after his most recent spell at Edinburgh City, who Nomads famously defeated at Deeside Stadium in the Scottish Challenge Cup back in 2019.
Frankie was born in Motherwell, Scotland and spent a lot of his formative years at Celtic, playing regularly for the Hoops in their youth and development sides, including the Celtic B team that played in the Scottish Lowland League, signing his first professional contract for the side in 2021 aged just 16.
In 2022, Deane was signed by Burnley, before heading back to Scotland with Edinburgh City in 2023.
Despite being born in Scotland, Deane has represented the Republic of Ireland at U19 level.

Iolo Hughes (CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 to Trearddur Bay)

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876’s treble-winning captain of 2025-26 has become Trearddur Bay’s first signing of the summer.
Iolo Hughes, 30, brings with him a wealth of high-level experience to the Beach Boys.
As a youngster, Hughes was registered with Bangor City for three seasons in the Welsh Premier, featuring in 19 matches in total.
He had a loan spell during that period with Porthmadog, who he later joined on a permanent basis before a switch to Glantraeth.
In 2017-18, Hughes signed for Conwy Borough, whom he captained to the Welsh Alliance League title, FAW Trophy and Cookson Cup treble – a feat he was to repeat eight years later with 1876.
Hughes remained a Boro player until he joined then Cymru North newcomers Bangor 1876 at the start of 2023-24, scoring on his debut in a 3-2 Nathaniel MG Cup victory at Holywell Town. He went on to make 71 appearances for the Citizens before deciding to remain in Tier 3 for the 2026-27 campaign by signing for Trearddur.

Brad Barnes (to CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Attacking midfielder Barnes is an exciting new capture for the Lilywhites.
Barnes initially joined Connah’s Quay Nomads at U16 level from Stoke City and was a key performer in the team that won the Cymru Premier Development North title in the 2022-23 season.
However, on the day Nomads lifted the trophy, Barnes suffered an horrific leg injury which kept him on the sidelines for over nine months.
On his return, he played mainly for the Nomads Under-18 side, but also made his first team debut in the Nathaniel MG Cup.
He signed a full-time contract with Nomads in June 2025 and last season had spells on loan at Cymru North clubs Denbigh Town and Buckley Town.
Barnes made 16 appearances for Denbigh, scoring once, and from January 2026 onwards was at Buckley, netting on debut at Ruthin Town in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup and notching four goals in 13 games.
Became a free agent after his contract at Nomads was not renewed and has now landed a switch to Rhyl.

Joel Giblin (Ruthin Town to CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Versatile full-back/winger who as a junior in the FAW Academy League represented Prestatyn Town Under-14s, Flint Town U16s and Conwy Borough U16s before making senior debut for Colwyn Bay in Cymru Development North at the start at 2022-23.
Was also included in Bay senior squads that season before playing in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup Final defeat to Barry Town United.
Continued to progress with the Seagulls in 2023-24, although mainly remained a Development player before signing for Cymru North club Ruthin Town on loan in January 2024.
Made 15 first team appearances for Town, scoring twice, before returning to the Bay at the start of 2024-25. Was back at Ruthin in 2025-26, netting six times in 29 matches.
