Five wins out of six for North Wales in Liverpool Comp – Northop Hall, Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn first teams all victorious

1ST XI FIRST DIVISION
Northop Hall 1st XI (20) 177-8 New Brighton 1st XI (7) 174-10

Spin kings James Hurlin and Paul Jenkins bowled out New Brighton between them before Northop Hall’s batsmen did just enough to secure the victory at Smithy Road.
Winning the toss and putting the opposition in, Hurlin scooped 6-69 off 18 overs and Jenkins bagged 4-68 off 25.3 as the visitors were dismissed for 174.
In reply, Hall were struggling at various stages, being 15-2, 88-4 and 131-7 before Carwyn Johnson (28) and Alex Smith (26 not out) put on 42 for the eighth wicket, taking the home hopefuls to the brink of victory, which was soon completed on 177-8 off 49.3.
Earlier, Jac Kennedy and Christian Jardine had made 30 apiece, Finley Jenkins 26.
Birkenhead Park 1st XI (6) 194-10 Colwyn Bay 1st XI (25) 195-7
Matt Russell played an important role with bat and ball as Colwyn Bay edged to a three-wicket win at BPCC.
Park won the toss and batted, recovering from 96-6 to set a more respectable 194 all out from 63.1 overs.
Russell took 4-57, Jack Parry 2-30 and Charlie Collins 2-55 for the North Wales visitors.
In response, Bay slipped from 84-1 to 154-7, skipper George Johansen making 44 and Dan Russell 35.
With seven down, there was still plenty of work to do for the away side, but Matt Russell (24 not out) and Shashika Dulshan (17 no) put on an unbroken 41 to guide Bay to a commendable triumph.
1ST XI SECOND DIVISION
Whitefield (Roby) 1st XI (0) 96-10 Prestatyn 1st XI (25) 97-0
A commanding 10-wicket victory for Prestatyn with great all-round bowling and then excellent batting from the openers.
After winning the toss and batting, Whitefield collapsed alarmingly from 74-1 to 96 all out, losing nine wickets for 22 runs.
Kieron New took 4-55 and Adam Tidswell 3-7 for the North Wales travellers, who required just a three-man attack to do the job, Benjamin Hughes also landing a wicket.
Prestatyn openers Ryan Westwell and Andy Taylor then needed just 16.5 overs to reach their target.
Westwell ended on 53 not out – seven fours and a six – and Taylor 31 no in a score of 97-0, sealing a 25-point haul for the seadiers.
2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION
Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (3) 140-10 Birkenhead Park 2nd XI (25) 221-7 dec
Bay seconds knew they faced a tough task after visitors Birkenhead Park seconds concocted a formidable 221-7 declared after deciding to bat.
Mike Bowe was the star man for the away side with 101 not out, Finn Eames-Hughes 3-54 and Josh Grant 2-44 for the hosts.
Bay were then sent packing for 140, Jaiveer Tomar 41, captain Tom Roberts 40, Bowe 4-17 off 10 on a day he will not forget in a hurry.
2ND XI SECOND DIVISION
Parkfield Liscard 2nd XI (0) 70-10 Northop Hall 2nd XI (25) 71-1
Gethin Owens claimed a senior career-best 4-13, Oliver Jenkins 3-10 and Matthew Edwards 2-11 as Northop Hall seconds blew away Parkfield for just 70 and then cruised to 71-1 off 19.2 for a 25-0 points verdict, Michael Williamson 31 not out.
