It has been the mother of all seasons for CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876.
Michael Johnston and Sean Eardley’s side have won THREE trophies – the Ardal North West League title, FAW Amateur Trophy and now, the Ardal North League Cup after today’s thrilling last-gasp victory over Llanuwchllyn.
Also this season, they reached the Welsh Cup semi-finals, becoming only the second Tier 3 club in history to achieve that feat.
In 51 matches across all competitions, the Citizens won 47, drew 2 and lost only twice.
They were beaten just once in the league and exited the Welsh Cup at the last four stage to Cymru Premier favourites Flint Town United.
In achieving their aims, City have scored a massive 217 goals.
And most importantly, they are heading back to the Tier 2 Cymru North after just a season’s absence.
Today saw Bangor complete the treble with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Ardal North East champions Llanuwchllyn in the league cup final at Y Traeth, Porthmadog.
Llan took a 19th minute lead through a 53rd goal of the season for North Wales senior football’s top marksman Meilir Williams, Dafydd Griffith with the assist.
City levelled 10 minutes into the second half when leading hitman Corrig McGonigle netted from the penalty spot with his 45th goal of the campaign.
Bangor have shown a penchant for outlasting opponents and winning with late goals across the season, and true to form they claimed the cup in the 93rd minute when Cai Powell Roberts hit a great strike for just his second net-finder of 2025-26.
The right back might not come up with that many goals, but when he does score it is vitally important.
His opener got Bangor up and running in their 3-1 Welsh Cup victory over Caerau Ely in January – and then came his decider to land the treble on May 16.
A season no-one associated with CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 will ever forget!
