Connor Owen among the new faces in Ynys Môn squad for summer mini-tournament

Ynys Môn have named a 14-man squad for this summer’s Isle of Man interim mini football tournament, part of preparations for the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands.

The event, which will take place between July 10-12, will also involve teams from the hosts and AFC Blackpool.

The Anglesey squad has a few familiar names missing due to holidays and injuries, but it is also an opportunity to bring through new players and create squad depth looking towards the following year’s Games.

Five Holyhead Hotspur players, three from Porthmadog, two Trearddur Bay, two Bangor City 1876 and one apiece from Llangefni Town and Menai Bridge Tigers make up the playing party.

Carl Jones (Bangor City 1876)

Vastly experienced goalkeeper renowned for his penalty-saving ability who has represented Môn in three Island Games.
Joined current club CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 in January 2025 after short stint at Trearddur Bay and has been a key man for the Citizens in this season’s unparallelled successes.
Other former clubs include Holyhead Hotspur, Bodedern Athletic and Prestatyn Town.

Cai Griffith (Porthmadog)

Defender, aged 20, who joined Porthmadog in March 2025 and won the Ardal North League Cup last season.
Has made 17 appearances for Port this term after recovering from injury.
Progressed through Caernarfon Town’s youth system before making first team debut as a substitute against The New Saints in January 2022.
Shone for the Canaries’ development team in 2022-23 and over the next two seasons gained more game time with the firsts before signing for Llangefni Town at the start of 2024-25.

Caio Evans (Porthmadog)

Midfielder and regular for Porthmadog at tier 2 and 3 levels over the past three seasons having earlier been part of the Caernarfon Town set-up where his first team appearances were mainly restricted to the bench, but was an excellent performer for the development side.
Consistent operator who has appeared in 37 games for Port this season.

Harry Hughes (Llangefni Town)

Aged 20. Regular for Llangefni over the past two seasons, having joined from Caernarfon Town at the start of 2024-25.
Has made 60 first-team appearances for Cefni in Tier 3.

Jake Roberts (Holyhead Hotspur)

Young talent who is progressing well with Holyhead Hotspur in Tier 2 Cymru North.
Arrived at Hotspur this season from Trearddur Bay and played in 27 games for Holyhead’s first team, contributing three goals.

Sam Jones (Bangor City 1876)

Featured in the 2019 gold medal Inter-Games squad, scoring three goals, and represented Ynys Môn in the 2023 and 2025 Island Games.
Gifted front man who played for Menai Bridge Tigers, Bangor City, Caernarfon Town, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno before joining Bangor 1876 at the start of 2023-24.
Has made 92 appearances for Bangor, often coming off the bench, scoring 29 goals.

Liam Morris (Porthmadog)

Ynys Môn’ all-time record goalscorer at the Island Games with 10 goals in three tournaments.
Morris, 27, played for Llanfairpwll, Gaerwen, Llangefni Town, Conwy Borough and Holyhead Hotspur before joining Bangor 1876 in 2022-23.
Scored 50 goals in 97 appearances for Bangor before joining Porthmadog in November 2025, netting twice on debut in a 3-2 Welsh Cup win over Port Talbot Town.

Connor Owen (Holyhead Hotspur)

One of the finest players to grace the Cymru North this season with Holyhead, whom he joined from Gwalchmai at the start of 2025-26.
Has netted 18 goals in 32 outings for Hotspur, including 17 in Cymru North where he was fifth top-scorer. Nominated for league’s Young Player of the Year.
Scored 113 goals in 130 appearances over four seasons at previous club Gwalchmai.

Harri Jones (Trearddur Bay)

Powerful central defender who emerged through the youth ranks at Caernarfon Town before moving to Trearddur Bay in 2024-25, where he has made 74 first team appearances and emerged into a key performer.
Was part of the 2025 Island Games squad which won the silver medal in Orkney.

Jack Walsh (Holyhead Hotspur)

Tremendous midfield talent who signed for Holyhead Hotspur at the start of 2022-23 from Conwy Borough, having previously had spells at Bangor City and Pentraeth.
Aged 23. Walsh has made 135 appearances for Hotspur, including the 2024-25 Ardal North play-off final which the Holy Islanders won to return to the Cymru North.

Huw Morris (Holyhead Hotspur)

Highly rated 19-year-old who joined Holyhead Hotsput from the Caernarfon Town Development squad at the start of 2024-25.
Made 16 appearances for Hotspur in the Cymru North this season and had featured in 31 first team games in total for Darren Garmey’s side.

Casey Gregg (Holyhead Hotspur)

Made his mark at Bodedern Athletic in their tier 4 title-winning 2021-22 season before spells with Trearddur Bay, Holyhead Town and CPD Boded.
Rejoined Trearddur Bay in January 2024 and became a crucial performer for the first team as well as a standout on occasion with the development.
Left Bay in early 2025-26 to sign for Hotspur, where he has played in 17 Cymru North games this term as well as being an influence on the development team’s success.

Thomas Lennon (maroon – 6) has earned a place in the Ynys Môn squad

Thomas Lennon (Trearddur Bay)

Commanding 18-year-old defender in his third season at Trearddur Bay.
Won the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier League with Bay in 2023-24 and over the past two campaigns has been increasingly effective in Tier 3.
Had made over 70 appearances for the first team and also made an impact for the development side.

Callum Graves (Menai Bridge Tigers)

Began the 2025-26 at Holyhead Hotspur, but in March returned to Menai Bridge Tigers where he has netted 68 goals in 87 appearances since 2021-22.
Was unstoppable in 2023-24, pocketing 40 goals in 32 games across all competitions for Tigers, finishing third highest scorer in the tier 4 North Wales Coast League Premier with 30 from 24 matches, only Jamie McDaid and Asa Thomas above him.
Bridge finished runners-up and were promoted to tier 3 Ardal North West in 2024-25. Although relegated, Graves was again their top-scorer with 12 league goals.
Despite his net-finding record, Graves joined Hotspur as a full-back, citing it as his preferred position. Made 19 appearances in Cymru North for Holyhead before rejoining Tigers.
