Women’s football: Llangefni get promotion green light

Llangefni Town have secured a Tier 2 licence necessary to compete in the Adran North

Four North Wales women’s football teams which operated in Tier 3 of the pyramid this season have earned the qualification needed to compete at a higher level.

Llangefni Town, Wrexham Foresters, Kinmel Bay and NFA have all been successful with their FAW Women’s Tier 2 Licence Applications for the 2026/2027 season.

The FAW’s First Instance Body gave the four teams the thumbs up today.

Llangefni are the 2025-26 North Wales Coast Women’s League champions, while Foresters are strong favourites to land the Central Wales North Ladies League title, currently sitting top of the table with a 100 percent record.

Kinmel Bay finished runners-up in the Coast League, with Rhyl-based NFA likely to end up in fourth spot. At present, the composition of the Adran North and South Leagues in 2026-27 have not been finalised.

Of the seven teams which competed in the Tier 2 Adran North this season, six have retained their Tier 2 licence – CPDM Bangor, CPDM Y Felinheli, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Flint Town United, Llandudno and Llanfair United. Only Berriew have failed at the first attempt.

Airbus UK Broughton of the Central Wales League withdrew their application for a Tier 2 licence.
