North Wales Coast West: Nefyn earn big boost in Premier title race, Aberffraw complete unbeaten league campaign

NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE – REPORTS SATURDAY, MAY 3
PREMIER DIVISION

Cemaes Bay 2 CPD Nefyn United 4
Adroddiad: Y Bardd Penwaig

CPD Unedig Nefyn demonstrated exactly why they are challenging for the league’s summit on Saturday afternoon, recovering from an early setback to defeat Cemaes Bay with a display of clinical efficiency in the first half.
The School Lane ground was barely settled when Iolo Hughes gave the hosts a shock lead in the 2nd minute. This seemed to kick Nefyn into gear. What followed was a 22-minute blitz that effectively ended the contest before the interval.
11th Minute: Deio Rhys Jones restored parity with a composed finish from the edge of the penalty box
12th Minute: Barely sixty seconds later, the game was turned on its head. Noa Griffith turned provider, threading a ball to Steffan Toplis who made no mistake giving Nefyn the lead.
34th Minute: The dominance was consolidated when Tomi Jones-Evans found the net to ensure a commanding 3-1 cushion at the break, Toplis with the assist after some good work out wide by Griffith.
Nefyn refused to take their foot off the gas in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Tomi Jones-Evans struck again to make it 4-1.
This was a milestone moment for the striker, taking his league tally to 24 and his staggering seasonal total to 33 goals. The goal was unselfishly crafted by Rhys Williams.
The hosts were gifted a route back into the match in the 65th minute via an unfortunate own goal by the unlucky Iwan Griffith, but Nefyn never wavered.
The midfield, remained in control of the tempo, Arwel Huws and Ifan Jones suffocating any chance of a Cemaes comeback alongside the impressive Deio Rhys Jones to see out a professional victory.
Nefyn now move onto the next opponent Llanystumdwy on Thursday night at Treborth 3G pitch with only 3 games remaining in the league with their destiny very much in their own hands.
Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 1 Menai Bridge Tigers 1
Leaders Menai Bridge lost two vital points in the title race.
The islanders could not have wished for a better start, Matthew Jones’ 22nd goal of the season from a Callum Graves assist giving them a first-minute lead.
However, battling Blaenau levelled through a Iwan Jones penalty after 60 and 1-1 is how it stayed.
Bontnewydd 4 Gwalchmai 1

After a goalless first half, Bont took over following the break.
Goals on 56 and 59 minutes from Jac Thompson and Cai Penny Williams respectively made it 2-0 to the hosts.
Adam Jones bagged a third after 79, but Darren Lewthwaite pulled one back for the visitors almost instantly.
Seven minutes into stoppage time, Thompson put Bont 4-1 up and there was still time for Lewthwaite to miss a penalty for the away side.
CPD Boded 3 CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 4
Cai Henshaw’s 90th minute decider clinched the game for Penrhyndeudraeth.
Justin Williams, Tom Kelly and Asa Thomas netted for Boded, but Gwion Davies, Henshaw and Cedri Jones kept the visitors in touch before that late winner.
CPD Llannerchymedd 0 CPD Talysarn Celts 6
Sub Aled Jones (2), Glyn Hughes-Thomas, Owain Glyn, Tomos Williams and skipper Jac Pearce Jones split the goals in a big away win for Talysarn.
CPD Mynydd Llandegai 5 CPD Llanberis 2
After five straight defeats, Llandegai hit back with a cracking 5-2 home victory over Llanberis at Penrhiw.
Leon Buckland was a hat-trick hero for the hosts, Gethin Davies adding a double, with Tomos Saynor and Jonathan Cyster replying for the Darans.
DIVISION ONE

CPD Deiniolen 1 Holyhead Town 4
Good away win for Town who sit fourth in the table with one game to play.
The first chance fell to the Harbourmen when Declan Jones hit the bar with a long range free-kick.
In a back and forth opening Steff Parry cleared the ball off the line to stop Deiniolen taking the lead. Town started to move the ball well and created a chance for Fesgie Osagie, whose effort was saved.
Osagie made no mistake from the resulting corner, turning the ball in at the back post to make it 1-0.
Deiniolen put the pressure on with some high balls into the box and had the ball in the net but the referee ruled their player to be offside.
Moments later the home team had another chance to level at the back post but shot wide.
Osagie’s effort was well saved by Rhydian Williams, but Town did get a second when a long Aneurin Sanderson throw into the box was flicked on by Osagie to Sion Davies, who fired home from close range to make it 2-0 at the break.
Deiniolen started the second half with intent throwing players forward early on, but it was Town who got the early goal when a Declan Jones throw found Osagie, whose looping header found its way in over the keeper.
Town were now in control and got a fourth when Charlie Diamond picked the ball up on the left hand side, drove inside and curled an effort from 30 yards in to the far top corner. Deiniolen did pull a goal back through Arwyn Price when the Town defence failed to clear.
Amlwch Town 3 Bethesda Rovers 3
Promising young talent Ben Hoyland made it back-to-nack hat-tricks in a pair of 3-3 draws for Amlwch at Lon Bach.
The 18-year-old’s treble helped the hosts recover from two-down to lead 3-2, but Rovers notched a point thanks to a pair from Herbie Hofsteede and a single from sub Ryan Roberts.
CPD Caernarfon Borough 3 CPD Cefni 2
Bottom side Boro celebrated just a second league win of the campaign.
Dylan Owen, captain Thomas Philp and Gwion Dafydd Owen delivered the goals that matttered for the hosts, Tyler Mapp with both for Cefni, who had goalkeeper Cian Griffiths-Jones sent off on 50 minutes for a second yellow card.
CPD Mountain Rangers 1 CPD Aberffraw 1
Aberffraw became the first North Wales senior men’s team to complete an unbeaten league season in 2025-26, when Andrew Jones’ 89th minute equaliser made it 22 without loss for the champions – 19 wins, three draws.
Only FC Queen’s Park Reserves of the North East Wales League can still match Berffro’s feat this term.
Aeron Wyn Williams gave NWCFA Junior Cup winners Rangers a 64th minute lead, but although Andy Clarke missed a spot-kick for the visitors, that levelling goal did eventually come through Jones.
