Mynydd Isa win first-ever NEWFA Women’s Recreational Cup

NEWFA Women’s Recreational Cup Final
Mynydd Isa 3 (Wellstead 2, Ward)
CPD Cei Connah 0
Joy for Mynydd Isa as they were crowned first-ever winners of the NEWFA Women’s Recreational Cup on Sunday.
In front of a large crowd at Brymbo, the Flintshire side also became the first team to defeat league champions Cei Connah this season.
Two first half goals from Jess Wellstead put Isa in command, Tara Davies and Lydia Ward with the assists.
After the break, captain Tahlia Davies set up Ward for the third goal.
Mynydd Isa wrote the following on social media after the final:
“A huge congratulations to the ladies who were crowned NEWFA Women’s Recreational Cup winners this afternoon after a fantastic 3–0 victory over CPD Cei Connah in the final, with a huge crowd, at Brymbo.
An outstanding performance from the team, controlling the game throughout, producing some brilliant passages of play, showing incredible work rate from start to finish, and demonstrating the supportive team ethos that defines this squad.
So proud of every single one of the ladies for their commitment, determination, and the way they represented the club today. You were simply brilliant.
A massive well done to CPD Cei Connah Ladies Football as well for reaching the final and for the competitive games throughout the season, a great advert for women’s football.”
