The trophies just keep on coming for Mark Allen’s Airbus side.

On Saturday, the Wingmakers made it back-to-back Tier 2 Welsh Blood Service League Cup successes with a 2-0 win over Treowen Stars in the final at Latham Park.

Already guaranteed promotion back to the Cymru Premier as runners-up in Cymru North and a Tier 1 licence secured, the Broughton outfit overcame Cymru South opposition in the national final at Newtown.

In past seasons, there was a North and South WBS League Cup final before the national event, but this term the competition policy changed to become non-regionalised.

There was an early test for Treowen keeper Cameron Clarke when he was forced to tip over a Jordan Evans strike.

In the 11th minute, Airbus striker Danny Warren leapt high to meet a corner but his header just cleared the bar.

Stars had one or two attacking moments of their own before the deadlock was broken on 41 minutes.

George Peers was brought down in the box and it was he who took the resulting penalty, sending Clarke the wrong way to notch his 29th goal of the season.

The final remained a cagey affair into the second half, but the chances were arriving more steadily for the North Wales side, Warren firing one just wide before seeing Clarke keep out another effort.

A second goal was definitely needed to give the Wingmakers room to breathe and it came on 75 minutes.

Evans fed Nathan Williams down the left and his cross was fired home via the crossbar by sub James Davies, whoo had only been on the park for three minutes.

Further pressure brought no more reward, but Airbus had done enough to secure yet more silverware for their impressive cabinet.
