Two out of three for FC Queen’s Park Vets!

More silverware for FC Queen’s Park Vets

NEWFA VETERANS CUP FINAL 2025-26

FC Queen’s Park 6 Llay Welfare Vets 2

FC Queen’s Park’s mighty veterans team landed the second leg of what they aim to be a terrific treble on Thursday night.

Wth the North East Wales Veterans Division 1 title already in the bag, the Park took on Llay Welfare Vets in the NEWFA Veterans Cup Final at Stansty Park.

Danny Barton gave Llay a flying start with a first minute goal, but James Rogers levelled from a Mike Latham assist with just five on the clock.

Latham then made it 2-1 in the 39th minute, Michael Parry the supplier, ensuring FQP were in front at the interval.

Early in the second half, it looked like game on when Wrexham-area great Ricky Evans levelled for Welly.

However, Park upped a gear and two goals in four minutes from captain Joshua Betterley, both via Latham assists, put the reds in control.

Latham himself then took centre stage, finding the net on 82 and 89 minutes to complete a hat-trick which made sure another trophy was heading for FQP.

That made it 33 goals for Latham representing the Vets this season, his 31 for the Queen’s Park senior first XI, who have just won the North East Wales League Division 1 title, bringing his grand total to 64.

Queen’s Park Veterans still have the North East Wales Vets League Cup Final against Hawarden Rangers to come on May 3 at Brymbo Sports and Social Complex.
