Llangefni Town Ladies knew exactly what they had to do on Sunday: win the game and take home the trophy.
Facing a strong Kinmel Bay side at Cae Bob Parry, the league leaders didn’t blink. They put on a clinical performance to win 5-1, securing the title with a game to spare.
Llangefni started with high energy, looking for an early goal to settle any nerves. It came from a textbook set-piece. Beth Jones swung in a perfect corner, and Ellie Coulson rose above the defenders to head the ball right into the top corner.
With the momentum on their side, Cefni kept pressing. Beth Jones was the playmaker again, sending a cross into the box for Amber Brown. Amber showed great footwork, controlling the ball instantly before picking her spot and slotting it home for her 20th league goal of the season.
Just seven minutes later, it was 3-0. Brown turned from scorer to provider, laying the ball back to Ffion Owen. From well outside the penalty area, Ffion hit a long-range shot that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net.
Ffion wasn’t finished. Just before half time, she reacted quickest to a Kinmel throw-in, stole the ball, and drove straight into the box. As the keeper rushed out to block her, Ffion stayed calm and tucked the ball away to make it 4-0 at the break.
The second half started with a bang. Less than a minute after the whistle, centre back Mared Roberts played a ball to find Ffion Owen in space. Ffion made no mistake, firing it home to complete her third hat-trick of the season and put Llangefni 5-0 up.
Kinmel Bay managed to grab a late goal through Jess Nettleton, but the party had already started in the stands. Llangefni used all their substitutes to make sure the whole squad shared in the moment, finishing the match as 5-1 winners.
Llangefni Town Ladies are officially the league champions! They head to Henllan for the final game of the season next week. They’ll be looking to maintain their incredible undefeated record before finally lifting the trophy.
