Corrig McGonigle netted five times as Bangor City 1876 recorded the joint third biggest win in their history on Saturday afternoon.
A 13-0 caning of Mynydd Isa was the club’s largest victory since the Citizens thrashed Gaerwen 15-1 in 2021-22 and prior to that whipped Bethesda Athletic 14-0 in their debut season in the Gwynedd League in 2019-20.
Leading the way was striker supreme McGonigle, club record marksman with 169 goals and 472 in his senior career, who notched five in a game in Citizens colours for the first time since May 2022 in an 8-1 beating of Pentraeth.
The 29-year-old still has a way to go to surpass his all-time best of eight in a match – also for 1876 in the aforementioned 15-1 routing of Gaerwen in March 2022, but he will be more than happy with Saturday’s quintet which moved him up to 37 goals for the current season.
Leaders Bangor restored their five-point lead at the Ardal North West summit and are now just two short of 100 goals in their 23 matches.
Captain Tom Clarke set the ball rolling at Bangor City Stadium with a second-minute opener.
Declan McManus doubled the lead on 17 and James Barry struck after 21, Josh Carey assisting with both goals, before McGonigle bagged three goals in nine minutes before the break – one of the fastest hat-tricks of his career. Half-time: 6-0.
Unstoppable McGonigle was in rampant form, adding further net-busters on 51 and 54 to complete his nap hand, Cai Powell Roberts and Jamie Reed assisting.
Cai Owen soon made it 9-0, Barry the supplier, and McManus brought up double-figures on 64, Louis Corrigan setting him up.
Clarke made it a personal double, as did Barry, and Jamie Reed rounded things off with number 13 just past the 90 – his 18th first team goal this term.

Connah’s Quay Town 0 Bethesda Athletic 2

Captain Osian Hughes maintained his amazing scoring run with a double in Bethesda’s win at Connah’s Quay.
Hughes struck either side of half time to make it 31 goals this season, Tomos Hughes and Cian Williams with the assists.
Pesda are now up to a magnificent third in the table after four wins in their last five league outings.

CPD Llannefydd 4 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1

Tom Jones and Tomos Salsbury scored two apiece as Llannefydd gained revenge over Phoenix for their recent FAW Amateur Trophy quarter-final loss to the Cae Sling outfit.
Salisbury netted on 12 and 25 before Jones added his pair after 49 and 61, Dan Evans with a late consolation for Pen.

Llay Welfare 1 Llanrwst United 1

Dean Bryan’s 91st minute equaliser rescued a point for Llay.
Llanrwst had looked like taking all three points after Luke O’Mahoney put them ahead on 84 minutes from a Julian Williams assist.

NFA 4 Trearddur Bay 0

Curtis Cook made it three goals in two games after scoring twice in NFA’s impressive victory over struggling visitors Trearddur Bay, who slipped to a sixth straight league loss.
NFA’s first league success in six attempts also included goals from sub Tyler Joyce and Macauley Taylor.

Prestatyn Town 1 CPD Pwllheli 1

Christoph Aziamale salvaged a point for Prestatyn with a late penalty for the second match running.
Having converted in the 83rd minute to seal a 1-1 home draw with NFA, the former Trearddur Bay front man netted from the spot with 88 gone at Bastion Gardens on Saturday.
Pwllheli had led since the 28th minite through a Sion Roberts goal.

CPD Y Felinheli 6 St Asaph City 2

When was the last time two Felinheli players scored a hat-trick in the same match prior to today’s happy event at Cae Seilo?
It is a good question to ask club experts.
Cal Macdonald and Byron Davis both bagged trebles in Saturday’s 6-2 triumph for the Reds at home to bottom side St Asaph.
It was an even contest in the first half, Macdonald and Davis both on target, but Harrison Roberts and James Williams replying to make it 2-2 at the interval.
It was a different story after the interval as Davis added two more to make it 25 goals for the season, while Macdonald also bagged a brace.

Llangefni Town 2 Porthmadog 5

Three late goals at Cae Bob Parry ensured second-place Porthmadog made it 10 league games unbeaten – eight of them wins.
A Friday night thriller saw two late substitutions turn the tide massively in favour of the visitors in what had hitherto been a very close contest indeed.
Port opened the scoring on 12 minutes with a very well-taken goal. Osian Evans picked up the ball on the edge of the centre circle and his strong run into the box culminated in a great shot beyond the diving Oliver Jones.
Port’s’ Gruff Ellis’ close-range effort came off the top of the crossbar before visiting custodian Josh Cooke was forced into an excellent save from a thumping shot by the marauding Osian Jones. Port had been warned and Cefni’s first equaliser duly arrived when Dion Jones ran strongly before confidently shooting past the onrushing Cooke.
It remained tantalisingly balanced at 1-1 until the 45th minute when Port’s Rhys Alun volleyed home powerfully at the back post from a fine cross by Sam Reynolds.
Port continued to press after the interval, but with Cefni keeper Oliver Jones in good form, the hosts then proved to be quick and skilful on the counter-attack.

Goal for Llangefni

They gained their second equalizer shortly after the hour during a frenzied period in and around the Port goalmouth during which Cooke was required to save twice with his feet before a dangerous low cross arrived on the right boot of substitute Ifan Mansoor who easily beat the keeper from point-blank range.
With 15 minutes remaining, it really was anybodys game but it was arguably a double substitution in the shape of super-subs Liam Morris and Jonny Bravo that swung the game so startlingly in Ports favour.
In the 84th minute, a good-looking volley by Danny Brookwell was diverted via the cheekiest of flicks into the net by Bravo to make it 2-3.
A minute into added time, Morris ran strongly past a couple of defenders before slamming the ball into the roof of the net.
With time running out, Morris brought another good, low save from Oliver Jones before that man Bravo calmly dispatched the rebound.
