Flint Town United have announced a change in management structure.

The Cymru Premier League club revealed on social media this evening that Steve Evans is the new first team manager, while Lee Fowler remains at the Essity Stadium as head of football.

Evans played for The New Saints for much of his career, and in 2008 was the first non-league footballer since 1930 to be capped by Wales. The central defender also spent 3 years at his home town club, Wrexham, making 80 appearances, before returning to TNS.

After hanging up his boots, Evo joined the TNS coaching staff in 2017 becoming assistant to Scott Ruscoe. In January 2022, he was appointed first team manager at Colwyn Bay, guiding them into the Cymru Premier for season 2023/24. Following their relegation at the end of 2023-24, he left the club and joined Fowler at Flint as assistant-manager .

Cardiff born Fowler is a former Welsh Under 21 international, gaining 12 caps for his country. During his playing career, he was a midfielder, and represented an array of clubs including Coventry City, Huddersfield Town, Fleetwood Town, Doncaster Rovers, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers.

Lee Fowler

After retiring from playing, Chester-based Fowler moved into the coaching and management side of the game, and gained his UEFA A licence.

He started out as assistant-manager at Nuneaton Borough, and has subsequently managed Ilkeston Town, where he led them to the Midlands Premier Division title and Radcliffe in the NPL Premier league.

He left Radcliffe in October 2021, and turned down several offers before taking the opportunity to manage in the Cymru Premier by accepting the role of Flint Town United manager in June 2022.

After the Silkmen were relegated at the end of 2022-23, Fowler led the club back to the top-flight the following season after they were promoted as Cymru North runners-up.

Last season he kept them in the Cymru Premier, finishing 10th and this term he has led the club to their first Welsh Cup final since 1954.
