Happy birthday Amy Woodbridge – football loves you πŸ’šπŸ–€

Amy Woodbridge (back row – furthest right) lines up with Henllan.

Happy birthday Amy Woodbridge – one of the most dedicated and hard-working footballers in the North Wales women’s game.

Born on March 25, 1999, Amy joined CPDM Henllan at the start of this season and has impressed with her all-round performances.

Only last Sunday, she scored a cracker from halfway in Henllan’s game against her old club Kinmel Bay which was caught on video..

This is probably the best action photo of Amy I can find. She is in green and black, looking away from the camera but challenging for the ball against Kinmel Bay. You can probably just about make out the No 26 on her back. Picture: BECCA GREGSON

CPDM Henllan media officer Cled Pierce is often full of praise for Amy, especially her teamwork ethic and the fact she will play in any position to help the team, including the occasional stint in goal, as was the case on Sunday.

Amy is usually a right-winger or right-back who has achieved some good things in her football life.

She once won a European final playing for Street Football Wales in Austria, beating Sweden in the final.

And in 2021-22, she was part of the CPD Y Rhyl 1879 squad which won the North Wales Women’s League title as invincibles at the first attempt.

Formerly with Kinmel Bay and Rhyl FC, Amy’s first competitive goal came for 1879 in a Genero Adran Trophy 12-0 win over a then inexperienced Llangefni Town side in September 2022.

She made 31 appearances for Rhyl 1879 before the team folded at the start of the current season.

Amy joined Henllan for whom she has played in 14 matches and netted twice, including that long range effort against Kinmel Bay as well as finding the target in a 4-3 win at Trearddur Bay in October.

Despite some difficult personal times, Amy has continued to devote herself to the game she loves and is a hugely popular character around the football clubs of North Wales.

She loves football and football loves her – simple as.

Have a great day Amy!
