NORTH WALES COAST EAST: Kinmel Bay’s long record without league loss is over, hat-tricks galore as hotshots fire

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – MARCH 14
PREMIER DIVISION

CPD Y Glannau 4 Kinmel Bay 2
Kinmel Bay’s amazing run of 37 league matches unbeaten is finally over.
After 28 wins and nine draws since a 5-2 defeat at Cerrigydrudion on October 12, 2024, Bay’s streak of success in the Premier Division ended on March 14, 2026 with a 4-2 loss at CPD Y Glannau.
Perhaps not surprisingly, it was a very familiar name who delivered the hat-trick that sealed Kinmel’s fate.
Harrison Bellis, who returned to the St Asaph-based club this season after spells with Denbigh Town and NFA, boosted his total for the current campaign to 26 goals with his fourth treble of 2025-26.

Since joining Y Glannau in October 2021, Bellis, 24, has now netted a phenomenal 170 goals in 94 matches for the Tier 4 club (165 for the first team and 5 for the development side)..
Glannau got off to a flyer at the Glan Clwyd Sports Centre ground, taking an eighth minute lead when Joey Fontana set up Bellis for the opener.
Bellis made it 2-0 on 13, Tom Edgley this time with the assist, and scorer then turned provider as the goal machine helped Owain Jones add a third with just 17 on the clock.
Shellshocked Kinmel Bay did hit back, Connor Morris converting a penalty on 33 before finding the net again on 44 with his 21st of the season to make it a much closer affair come the interval.
Kinmel Bay have a reputation for coming back from the dead and turning matches around, and it was obvious Y Glannau were going to face a big test of their credentials in the second half.
However, there were no more goals until the fifth minute of added time, when Bellis made it a hat-trick and the most prolific unbeaten run in North Wales senior leagues was over.
It was a well-deserved win on the day for the greens.
Glan Conwy 0 CPD Cerrigydrudion 4
Tirion Griffiths was a hat-trick star for a Cerrig side which completed a double over a Glan Conwy outfit they defeated 5-3 at home earlier in the campaign.
Griffiths boosted his season’s goals tally to 20 after scoring on 45, 63 and 70 minutes. Jac Edwards added a fourth for the visitors.
Llandudno Junction 1 Llandudno Amateurs 2
Danny Hughes’ added time winner clinched a big three points for the Amateurs, who kept their title bid bubbling on the same afternoon potentially nearest challengers Kinmel Bay lost their unbeaten record.
Lee Thomas handed the Amateurs a 23rd minute lead with his 18th goal of the campaign, but Bryan Roberts equalised with 27 gone.
It looked like a draw would be the outcome before ex-Llandudno star midfielder Hughes bagged a 92nd minute decider.
A more in-depth report to come on this game.
CPD Llansannan 5 Llanfairfechan Town 2
Andrew Thomas struck four times for the leaders who continue to retain their hold on top spot despite strong contenders pushing hard below them.
Thomas notched all his goals in the first half, striking on 23, 39, 45 and 45+2, Harry Croston with a reply for Llanfairfechan.
Jamie Haggas gave the visitors hope by making it 4-2 just before the hour, but Llansannan stayed in control and made sure of the honours when Meilir Williams added a late fifth.
Rhos United 1 Conwy Borough Swifts 0
Quite a day for shocks in the Premier!
After 12 matches without a victory, Rhos United upset a Conwy Borough Swifts side which had already beaten them twice in league and cup this term.
Since defeating Bro Cernyw 4-1 away last November, Rhos had lost 10 and drawn two and still occupy next-to-bottom place, but a Chris King goal on 29 minutes ensured they beat an in-form Swifts team which had beaten leaders Llansannan 3-0 on their travels just seven days earlier.
DIVISION ONE

Llandyrnog United 4 CPD Blue Bridge 2

Luke Appleby’s hat-trick helped ensure Llandyrnog claimed the points, but they were given a good battle by a much-improved Blue Bridge outfit.
Appleby netted on 27, 40 and 81 minutes to reach 24 goals this season, while Alfie Harrison also converted a penalty for Dyrny – his 23rd net-finder of 2025-26.
New Bridge signings Adam Cassidy and Ebin George responded for the visitors, who were right in the contest until Appleby’s late third.
Llysfaen 4 Prestatyn Wanderers 0

The unstoppable Mike Chapman scored all four goals for a rampant Llysfaen at the Bananbeu on Saturday afternoon.
Chapman made it 14 goals in eight games for his new club with his most deadly performance of finishing yet, hitting the target on 24, 37, 63 and 79 minutes.
Penrhyn Bay 5 Rhuddlan Town 1
It was an afternoon of prolific scoring feats in the North Wales Coast East League.
Joining in the fun was Penrhyn Bay’s Scott Court, who struck four times for the home team. Bay remain three points behind leaders Prestatyn Sports with two games in hand.
Court rippled the net on 1, 27, 30 and 46 minutes, while sub Marcus Howells also made the scoresheet with 91 on the clock.
Riley Patterson delivered outgunned Rhuddlan’s sole response.
Prestatyn Sports 3 Crozzy 0

Table-topping Sports made it nine straight wins in all competitions.
Captain Mike Jones nabbed a hat-trick for the home side to edge up to 26 goals for the campaign.
