NWCFA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE: Hotspur, Mochdre and Phoenix reach semis, Kinmel Bay dominate East

NORTH WALES COAST DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE – MARCH 8
LEAGUE CUP QUARTER-FINALS
Holyhead Hotspur Development 4 CPD Pwllheli – Tim Datblygu 2

Holyhead secured a hard-fought win over Pwllheli to set up a semi-final meeting with strong East Division opponents Mochdre Sports.
Casey Gregg (2), Jordan Rowlands and Lucas Garmey found the net for victorious Hotspur, Ethan Hunt with both for Pwllheli.
Hotspur Development manager Scott Hakesley runs us through the game….
“Today we turned our attention to the League Cup, welcoming CPD Pwllheli FC to the New Stadium.
“A very well-contested first half from both teams trying to play football the right way. It was Pwllheli who got on the scoresheet first, which in all honesty we probably needed to wake us up. A free kick from Ryan Woodruff found Jordan Rowlands to equalise, only for Pwllheli to regain the lead on the half-time whistle.
“We had a plan today and no panic was necesssary, however a change of shape and asking the lads to show character was all what was needed because the second half saw us play some lovely football through 16 year old MoTM Reece Thomas with the result Casey Gregg found himself on the end of a 10-minute brace to put us 3-2 up.
“Some excellent football in the second half played in front of a good crowd today was rounded off by a solo effort from Lucas Garmey to make it 4-2 and put us into the semi final vs favourites Mochdre Sports,
“I’d like to thank Chris and his players – always a very competitive game and a joy to be involved in.
“Next week we return the favour and travel to Pwllheli in the league where I’m sure will be another tough test.”
