CPD Pwllheli sign another top marksman from Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs

Sion Roberts is another exciting addition to the CPD Pwllheli squad for the remainder of 2025-26

CPD Pwllheli have strengthened their squad further with the signing of prolific forward Sion Rhys Roberts from Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs.

Roberts, 19, rapidly follows another ex-Blaenau player, Deio Williams, to the Tier 3 Llŷn Peninsula club. Williams found the net on his first appearance for Pwll in last weekend’s 3-1 win over NFA.

Having made his mark for the Bala Town Academy under-15 and U16 teams, Roberts embarked on his senior debut for Blaenau at the start of 2023-24, scoring in a 3-1 Welsh Cup loss to CPD Boded.

He went on to score an outstanding 45 goals in 69 appearances for the Quarrymen,

Roberts was a key part of last season’s Tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One title-winning team, as well as scoring twice in the NWCFA Junior Challenge Cup Final, where Blaenau defeated Caergybi 5-1. He netted 22 goals in total over the 2024-25 campaign and was joint fourth highest scorer in Division One.

This season Roberts had pocketed 13 goals for the Cae Clyd club before deciding to move up a level and join Pwllheli.

CPD Pwllheli said in a statement: “Sion is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions, and will be a valuable addition to the squad as the season progresses.

“Sion is highly respected locally, and many players and supporters are very pleased to see him sign to wear the white and black shirt.”

A disappointed Blaenau Amateurs said: “The club is devastated to announce the departures of two bright young talents. Sion Roberts and Deio Williams have decided to join Tier 3 side Pwllheli.

“Deio Williams signed for the club last season, playing a couple of games and got injured but has been a regular starter this season.

“Sion Roberts has been with the club since he has turned 16 being top scorer for the last 2 seasons and playing a vital role in last season’s double winning campaign

“Even though the club is disappointed, we would like to wish both players the best of luck.”
