Penyffordd Lions welcome back popular forward

Penyffordd Lions are delighted to welcome back a forward who has spent some of the best days of his career at the club.

Alister Randles, 28, recently returned to the Tier 4 North East Wales League Division One outfit from Connah’s Quay Town, whom he joined at the start of 2025-26.

Randles made a sensational start at Connah’s Quay, scoring all four goals on just his second appearance for the club in a 4-1 Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy victory over Llanidloes Town.

He went on to score nine goals in 19 outings for the Ardal North West side, also bagging a brace in an impressive 3-1 League Cup triumph over CPD Pwllheli.

Previous clubs Randles has served include Castell Alun Colts, where he was a steady marksman for the first team and reserves before switching to Penyffordd in October 2022, netting on debut in a 12-0 beating of Bellevue in the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy group stage.

Appearances were restricted through injury that season, but in 2023-24, Randles roared for the Lions, scoring 18 goals, including 10 in 20 outings in the North East Wales League Premier Division.

He also won the Horace Wynne Cup and Premier Cup with the club in that campaign,

Randles bagged another seven goals the following season before deciding to give Tier 3 a go with Connah’s Quay Town.

In all, Randles scored 28 goals in 66 matches in his previous stint with Penyffordd

A Penyffordd statement said: “Penyffordd Lions are delighted to welcome back Alister Randles. His return brings experience and a great boost to the squad. Everybody is really happy to see him back in Lions colours.”

Randles has already played twice on his return to the Lions, including being involved in a 2-0 home win over Rhostyllen today (Saturday, February 28)
