NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE ROUND-UP – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21
DIVISION 1

FC Queen’s Park 6 Chirk AAA 0

Queen’s Park hit top spot in Division 1 following a 10th straight league victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Park lost 2-1 at Chirk early in the season, but well and truly gained revenge at the Queensway Stadium, where the Wrexham side had also walloped The Colliers 9-1 in the Premier Cup back in December.
Ethan Simpson began this latest rout with a fifth minute opener assisted by Mike Latham, who soon converted a penalty for his 23rd goal of the season.
Corey Smart made it 3-0 after 28 minutes, ensuring the home team were in a comfortable position at half time.
The next-to-bottom visitors were in further trouble 11 minutes into the second half when a Jake Edwards own goal made it four.

Ryan Kershaw then got in on the act with number five after 59 minutes – his 10th goal of the campaign.
Prolific Nicky Williams rounded things off with 77 on the clock with his 17th goal of 2025-26.
In those 10 consecutive league wins, the Park have amassed 47 goals and conceded just seven.
DIVISION 3

Johnstown YFC 1 AFC Deeside 2

Sub Daniel Riley bagged an 88th minute winner for second-place Deeside at Matty Jones Circle.
Johnstown held a 1-0 lead at half time thanks to a 30th minute goal from Aaron Filmer.

Six minutes into the second half the visitors were level, Elliot Pearce with the finish and Sam Gormley-Jakomis supplying the assist.
A draw looked on the cards until two minutes from time, Riley found the net with Jack Shallcross the chance supplier.
RESERVE DIVISION 1
Rhos Aelwyd Reserves 3 Mold Alexandra Reserves 2

A good contest at Ponciau Park saw Rhos Aelwyd Reserves end up shading the points.
Deep into first half stoppage time, Nathan Evans fired the Aelwyd in front via a James Haynes assist.

It stayed 1-0 until the 69th minute when Spaniard Felipe White equalised for Alex, James Stevens setting him up.
Haynes restored the home lead on 75, then Roman Durnell made it 3-1 after 79 before Archie Albiston gave Mold hope with a late second, Rhys Hughes assisting.

LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS WITH SHAUN BEST
FC Queen’s Park are the new leaders in Division One following another emphatic victory.
The Queensway Stadium has become something of a fortress for the free scoring hosts, who have clawed the deficit back and overtaken Broughton United at the top of the table.
Not to be outdone, FC Queen’s Park Reserves share top billing thanks to six of the best from recent signing Tom Freeman.
The ex-Chirk AAA man led Hawarden Rangers’ Reserves a merry dance on the way to posting an impressive result for the Wrexham outfit.
Team performance of the day surely goes to CPD Cei Connah, who sprung a surprise in the Trophy at CPD Caerwys.
One could be forgiven for thinking it was business as usual when the hosts took an early lead, but full credit to the visitors for the comeback.
Brymbo struck late to rescue their Trophy tie against Cefn Druids, as Ricky Evans held his nerve from the spot to send the tie to penalties.
The shootout went through all 22 players, with even the goalkeepers netting. Ricky Evans missed when it came to his second spot kick, with Cefn’s Chad Humphreys netting the winner. It was redemption of sorts for Humphreys, who had missed Cefn’s opening spot kick.
Mynydd Isa Reserves booked a tie with Broughton United Reserves following an emphatic victory over Saltney’s second string.
The damage was done inside the first 11 minutes.
DIVISION TWO

CPD Sychdyn United took full advantage of being the only Division Two game being played. Their crushing victory over bottom side Holywell United reduced the gap at the top of the table to just two points.
AFC Deeside maintained second place in Division Three, but CPD Gronant stayed hot on their heels and have games in hand. Gronant remain the only team who can still catch runaway leaders CPD Caerwys.
The top two couldn’t be separated in Reserve Division One, although the visitors will be ruing Scott Massey’s missed penalty.
Broughton United’s Reserves left it late to come out tops in a five goal thriller against Cefn Albion Reserves and stretch their lead at the summit to nine points.
Harry Massey added another brace to his impressive goal haul for the season, as Overton eased into the last four of the Two Counties Cup.
