NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE: Division 1 – top 5 all wins, Caerwys remain unbeaten in 11 starts

Today’s NEWFA results and talking points with SHAUN BEST
Two inspired substitutions gave Division One league leaders Broughton United another victory, while free-scoring FC Queen’s Park kept up their pursuit.
The Park whipped Rhydymwyn 5-1 to make it nine straight wins, Ethan Simpson with a double, while Nicky Williams, Michael Latham and Tom Freeman all added singles, Olaf Sarnecki replying.

Latham struck his 16th league goal to stretch his lead at the top of the scoring charts, while new signing Freeman bagged his first in a Queen’s Park shirt and ninth overall strike for the season.
Third-placed Hawarden Rangers left it really late, but struck twice to keep themselves in the hunt. A heavy defeat for Ruabon Rovers leaves them three points adrift at the bottom.
Aston Park Rangers have taken control at the Division Two summit after winning their top of the table clash at CPD Sychdyn United. Acton remain in second place after being held by CPD Yr Wyddgrug.
Another week and another victory for CPD Caerwys. An early double by Karl Bacon cooked Bellevue and top scorer Ryan Carrington netted his 19th league goal of the season en route to a comprehensive victory.
CPD Gronant look like the only team who can try and keep up with the runaway leaders. The Flintshire side posted another eight goals, as they look to be hitting their groove at the right time.
Llay Welfare’s reserves climbed back to the top of Division One, while Brickfield’s Kian Davies notched up 13 goals for the season courtesy of his latest double.
Broughton United’s reserves strengthened their grip at the top of Division Two. They hold a six point lead over FC Queen’s Park, following the Wrexham based outfit’s draw at third placed Ruthin Town Colts.
With the situation practically mirroring that of the first team, FC Queen’s Park will look to take advantage of games in hand to put pressure on their rivals. Broughton’s Evan Davies joined Queens Park’s Sean Humphreys on 13 goals at the top of the scoring charts.
